Would it be possible to buy new blank f3 golden memories shells? Maybe consider doing that for the kit bashers out here?

The passenger cars that come with the Texas Special have roller problems. I oiled them like the instructions says, tried using Atlas conductive lube as well. They keep feezing up and do not want to roll. I have to use lighter fluid to free them up. I re- oil them and run them a while and the same process starts again. Any suggestions? These are only a few weeks old.

Before you send it in check to be sure that the flywheel(if equiped) is not rubbing the wires that come up and over the top of the motor. Bachman will service your engine and I think the fee is 25.00.

I did this with an F7. It will cruise at around 16 volts after instead of 6-8. I only recommend it if your transformer can put out in excess of 19 volts. If not, you won't get a good crusie speed. The best thing to do is buy a transformer that starts out at a lower voltage like the Z-1000. The Lionel KW is good with these.  I changed mine back to factory wiring because of the high voltage requirment to get a good top end.

I cannot find the Krylon silver. Is this the same color as post war F3's? That I can get.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: circuit boards for F3's?
March 30, 2009, 07:52:38 PM
3Rail,
Turns out I did not need a board. The flywheel on the front motor was rubbing down against the motor terminal wire connection on both sides. This shorted it out and blew the power brick breaker every time. I was able to bend the tabs down and file one of them a bit to make clearance. Runs great now! Those boards must be very durable.

Williams by Bachmann / circuit boards for F3's?

I bought a set of Golden Memories engines that has a bad circuit board that drives the motors. Do you send these in for repair or buy another from Bachman? These are not new.

Is it possible to get touch up paint for my Williams NH golden memories F3 diesel? I need the silver color that is the base coat. Does Bachman use the same paint as post war Lionel?

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Pictures In Product Line

I read the other thread and would like to bring up a point about the illustrated pictures. While they are nostalgic, some of them are incorrect and can lead to unhappy customers. Take for instance the NH checkerboard F3 and the Denver -Rio Grande F3's. I just saw a new NH F3 model at a show and they have window port holes and screen tops instead of the correct louver tops. No big deal maybe, but if people, like me,
who are not that familiar with Golden Memories F3's buy one expecting accurate models, and get these new models, we are not going to be happy about it. You should at least put a disclaimer on the illustrations and box. I know that the pictures of the "B" units show portal holes though. I love my Williams engines but think this should be clarified.

Williams by Bachmann / Why dull paints?

Please excuse me if this has been covered before, but I am curious as to why the F3 diesels are flat instead of glossy? Has anyone here safely clear coated the Texas Special?
