Though this could be put in the everything Thomas topic, I am also curious. We have about 6 months until their release. I would give it a month, then I will really start to wonder.

I'm excited for them too...  ;D

I would assume sometime in the summer since last summer we had pictures of most of the new stuff.  So I'd imagine at around that time we will get Donald and Douglas pictures.

I am lead to believe that the twins are due out October/November because of contact through a local supplier who puts thier pre-orders up this September. I am certianly looking forward to their releases!!!

You mean "are they" and there is no chance they will be early. When there is a date given, I don't think Bachmann has ever made the release earlier than that.

Possibly because they have no set release date, and the fact that they could be delayed till 2011 might be a factor in it.

We don't know about Donald and Douglas being delayed yet, so let's not step on the pavement that isn't dry (if you take my meaning).  But I can see why you would be concerned about that.

Keep in mind that troublesome truck 3 was nowhere to be seen in the brochure, and rolling stock almost always on time with the release date (The only exception was Emily's coaches but that was only a month).  So I'm almost positive we're gonna see Troublesome Truck 3 by Christmas.  I hope the same goes for Donald and Douglas, if not then if Duck is announced next year like we are hoping then I can imagine the three engines coming out at the same time (Due to them sharing the same chassis...) :)

Title: Re: Donald & Douglas

Just wait and see. I wish more people were saying that. When you are designing a whole new product, it takes a bit, let alone mass producing them capable for a shipment size. When people on the forum are bashing or kit building an engine, that can even take a month and more. Donald and Douglas aren't the only things there are working with. They are a model train company. Count the number of ranges, scales, and models that they make. They will be here in time. I personally want to see promo pics right away, who doesn't? They will be here in time and everything happens for a reason.  :)

For some reason I picture D&D with season 2 faces instead of the prefered season 3 faces.
Title: Re: Donald & Douglas
Post by: PerfectPercy on July 30, 2010, 01:38:20 PM
Well considering they had CGI faces that resemble a mix between season 2 and season 3 (well as far as I can see), maybe they will have faces based on the CGI. I would like season 2 as well though, but season 3 is acceptable. They are both better to me than the CGI, but I just like the classic stuff.

I hope Bachmann does not give not just the classic engines but newer engines ( Molly, Stanley, ext. ) no cgi faces, now if the engines is say Hank or Charlie then cgi faces would be acceptable. I really hope D&D will not have CGI faces.

Well all Hank or Charlie have are CGI faces. They never had plastic ones.

Scratch that then a engine like Molly or Silly Billy would not look good in cgi faces.

I never expected that many engines in one year anyway. They never really did that before. They have LS James, Bill, Ben, and Tidmouth Sheds. That is quite a bit in my opinion.

Isn't Troublesome Truck 3 to be released soon as well or is that a 2011 as well? And for Knapford Station?

Does anyone know when in 2011 Donald & Douglas will be released?

As soon as Bachmann are ready to release them. ;)

Troublesome truck 3 will be out in December.  I have received an email from Bachmann telling me that.  Donald and Douglas are delayed til 2011, so we most likely WON'T see them. ::) I wanted to see them more then Bill and Ben personally.... oh well.

I have to agree as the Scottish Twins have never been attempted before by modeling companies, to my knowledge. I also am having a want to see the twins as models, but for now we have Bill and Ben. I'm happy. 8)

Its not really so much he's got me there. Its that BACHMANN is unpredictable with their release dates. I hope I am wrong but it may not be until fall of next year.

I beg to differ. Even if it takes longer than that, I'll be happy. Last thing we want is a rushed model.

If you want one sooner, there's paint, parts, etc...

Gah!  :o No, I highly doubt that will happen. They are really only making one engine with minor differences to make 2. ::) The only differences are nameplates, numbers, and faces.  :P I wouldn't go past next fall. I bet they are at the latest released the same time that Bill and Ben were released this year. :)

bachmann usually says that then we get our hopes up, then we get ******* because they've been pushed back to june, then we get our hopes up again, then we get ******* again when they've been pushed back before. happens all the time: ex. Tidmouth Sheds and Emily. so my guess is next year around this time (October-December).

I think basically everything has been released in the fall/winter time because Christmas is on the way, and that is when model railway sales thrive (Presents! ;D).

I know your ticked, but Bachman's making some dang good models. Personally I'd rather they take their time and made models they could be proud of. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

I think he means "we get *******" as in people start making pointless threads asking one question: "so when is (insert model here) being released?" I have to agree with both of you. I think he means that Bachmann shouldn't give a date that is bound to be postponed. :P I don't like promises, which is what they basically are, that aren't kept without reason. Trying not to be rude, but that's how I feel. I'm not necessarily mad. I just like reasons and answers as most would. :)

exactly that. i don't get my hopes up if they say a model is being released. I automatically think " i'm going to get some nice models for Christmas  ;D ", or at the train show i go to in november, because we all know that bachmann works hard on these models. plus they have other models to attend to not just the Thomas ones. Donald and Douglas should, no WILL, be nice models when they come out.

You know, at least be grateful Bachmann is actually making them. They don't have to, and yet here you all are moaning about release dates.  ::)

They'll come, and be a quality product. Patience is a virtue...  ::)

That is the wrong attitude. This is why we run into problems in the first place. You need to be patient in order to say "Bachmann did a really great job with this one (or these two)."

Ha A Big Day For Thomas Reference

I don't see a reference in that post of Zelda's. At least half of the post wasn't from the episode and the part you thought was a reference could barely even be thought of as a reference. I take this into all seriousness, though. I've already said to be patient just like another 50% of the Thomas board, but the other 50% just prefer to keep on making pointless threads and impatient posts asking when the product will be released. As basically stated above by me, everything takes time, and we want a good product.

I was referencing "Thomas' Train." Specifically, I was paraphrasing: "Don't be impatient, Thomas. Wait 'til everything is ready".

Oh, well. Wasn't clear enough to be a true reference.  :P Paraphrasing sure, but no more, no less.

But honestly, people need to stop being impatient and people also shouldn't be making threads in the first place asking simple questions. It's one thing to have a redesign request with 20 paragraphs of reasoning, but one sentence is just appalling. :(

I have just started collecting the HO Thomas trains, and I'm so excited to hear about the Donald & Douglas ones. I hope they continue to make the rest of the trains from the first few series. Would also be kinda cool to see Sir Handle etc. from that series make an appearance in the releases one year.

I'm used to things being pushed back, but usually in the end, it's always super awesome - so until then, I will keep going with my collecting :)

You make a great point. The longer we wait. The better(I hope) it gets. And I wouldnt get my hopes up about the narrow gauge. They modeling them yourself. Its a great challenge. Oh, and welcome to the forums.

They could always make them the normal size... but I guess the perfectionists would complain. I'm loving these Thomas trains though. I have loved the series since I was little, and just recently came across these awesome Bachmann sets. My collection is slowly getting bigger, and I feel like a kid again lol

Oh, and thank you for the welcoming :)
