Thomas & Friends / Re: Suggestions for next models:
February 09, 2008, 07:06:41 PM
My wishlist:

Locomotives:

  • Diesel
  • Duck
  • BoCo
  • Donald
  • Douglas
  • Bill/Ben 2-Pack (they're small locomotives, so it probably would only cost a little more than Spencer or Gordon)
  • Iron 'Arry
  • Iron Bert
  • Stephney
  • Oliver
  • Arthur
  • Diesel 10

Rolling Stock:

  • Old Slow Coach
  • Toad
  • Hector
  • Creamery Cars
  • Circus Cars
  • Stone Slate loaded cars
  • Thomas' New Trucks
  • James' New Trucks

Acessories/Buildings:

  • Sir Toppam
  • HO-Scale driver and fireman
  • Real Thomas-style Water Tower
  • One-engine shed (Like Toby's)

What do you think guys?

That's awesome news, Mr. Bach-Man! I'm definately going to end up getting all of them (and the ones I haven't bought yet from the older stuff), but I'm surprised (not disappointed one bit!) that Salty is your first diesel engine besides Mavis. I thought it would be Diesel for sure (but what do I know...)!

The only problem is is that I'm not that great at making track designs and Mr. Bachmann's has everything like mountains and tunnels and stuff and it has the docks.

Hey GG-that's what I am doing!   :) Ok I found out the foam stuff, but I still can't completely find out the track plan for the outer layer. Mr. Bach-man, could you please tell me (if you know) how many pieces of each length/curve track you used for the outside line on the first level? I'm trying to design it on an Atlas railroad software, but that's the only part I can't figure out! (I know I said one more question, but I thought I knew the plan... sorry! Hope you can help!  :D)

Thanks in advance!

Ok, two more questions (Don't worry, I'm almost out of them!): 1. What kind and how thick is that foam, and where could I get it? 2. If I'm going to be using Atlas track, which turnouts would the ones you use match up to?
Thanks in advance, and I'm still crediting you-without you, I probably wouldn't have been able to build a great Sodor layout!

At least tell me what kind of turnouts you're using please, and if you use any partial curves after them, which ones are they! Thanks!

(P.S. I really am sorry that I am asking so many questions, but I really love your layout and want to make one just like it, but I can't figure out how the track is layed out. I don't want to claim anything about the layout I built that's just like yours-I credit you completely!  ;))

So can I just buy all the pieces I need by getting "X" number of packages of track, or do I have to buy them all seperately? If I do, please can you tell me how many of each you used?

(Sorry if I'm asking so many questions, but I just want to get things right and I want to be 100% sure!)

Thanks!

P.S. How long did it take you to build it?

Mr. Bachmann, I have a few questions about the Sodor layout as well.

  • I heard somewhere that the layout was able to fold up. Shown the way that you built it in the photo gallery, will it be able to fold up (this might be a second layout for me so I'd want to be able to move it so I could use the other one)
  • Is the layout light? (again, for the moving reasons)
  • Could you tell me the track packs that you bought for the layout?
  • Last, any tips on building the layout? I'm not the greatest modeler since I'm only a kid (teenager), so I need all the help I can get.

Thanks in advance!

Ok I think I know what they are now: they are those little arches over his drive wheels right? Correct me if I'm wrong. (Thanks Zelda!) One more question: how will I fill in the gap that is left once I remove them? Ok, well if anyone has any more ideas, please post them!

I found one in The Flying Kipper. Here's the link to it:

Look at 4:40. He had gotten his new shape, but at that moment, he had his old shape.

Ah... Nice job making him into his old shape! But, could you show a picture of where the splashers are, and the accurate tender?

Uh... what are splashers? And do you have any photos of your Henry project? I dunno if I understand what you're saying...

So since it's accrylic, does that eliminate the poisonous fumes that come from some paints? Also, do the paints dry looking like it's painted on plastic, or wood, and is it shiny like the factory paints? And one last question: Do they work with airbrushes? I haven't gotten one yet, but I might. (Sorry for all the questions, it's just that I don't know very much about those paints  ;D)

So would cutting Henry make him look like his current shape in the show, or like the old one? And what color should I use to paint over the sanded parts?
