Jim, two comments.
'You make it seem that Atlas appeared sometime in the '60s.  I think it was later.

I think Atlas' big move into fine quality HO-scale diesels and rolling stock begins in late 1974 with the intro of the Roco-Austria produced group of HO-scale diesels.  The group started in December '74 with the SD24 and followed with an impressive run of new locos through 1975 that included the SD35; GP38 (hi and low nose); GP40; and FP7.

Take a look at my Atlas site for more on these classics...

The Atlas Kato-made locos begin arriving later in the '80s.

Thought some here might enjoy my look at E-R Models/Roco's HO-scale diesels and the few diesels announced but never produced.

HO / Re: AHM Golden Car Series...
February 25, 2007, 12:54:06 AM
The AHM Golden Car Series date back to the late '70s from what I recall.  The cars were delivered with weathering applied, the AHM catalog boasts this as a feature of the series.

Here's a pic of the two unique car styles offered in this series from a late '70s AHM catalog...

I don't have one to confirm it, but I think Con-Cor may currently offer the former AHM Watermellon Car.

A quick check at Walthers shows a number different roads in stock for this car...

HO / Toy Fair Announcement Question
February 18, 2007, 01:58:50 PM
Hello Bach Man,

You had stated some time back that Bachmann was altering its announcement practice and that items would not be called for so far in advance of their actual delivery.

Does this apply to the items announced in the 2007 Bachmann product catalog/Toy Fair?

Also, I noticed the catalog and Toy Fair announcements call for an EZ-DCC Rio Grande GP-35 and then there is a Rio Grande GP-40 announced bundled with the EZ-DCC controller.  I'm guessing it might be an error and we will actually see only one new Rio Grande diesel...but which is it?  GP-35 or GP-40?

Thanks,

Tony Cook
