On30 / On30 Bridges
June 16, 2009, 11:56:24 AM
I'm looking for a bridge (specifically a covered bridge like this one) for my On30 shelf layout.  Length is an issue, so the Lionel one, at 2 feet long, is a bit too much.  Does anyone know of any other manufacturers that make shorter bridges?

On30 / Re: Minimum radius on the Climax

13 inch curves might work, as the plan is 28 inches wide.  thanks for the info.

On30 / Minimum radius on the Climax
June 16, 2009, 09:22:54 AM
I'm planning a dogbone shelf layout to include my On30 Climax, but can't find the minimum radius anywhere. Right now, the plan has 12 inch radius curves. What is the minimum radius the Climax can run on?

Well, at least we can order it from http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/catalog/?function=detail&id=1952

from the photos of the model there, and the prototype i've seen, it's a pretty good model :)  now to convince the boss that i should buy one.

General Discussion / Fastening EZ-Track to platform
December 19, 2007, 09:01:29 AM
For a new Christmas display I'm building, I want to use EZ-track, but want to fasten it to the platform. What's the best way to do this?

Also, is there any recommended method to deaden the sound of the trains rolling over the EZ-track? I've found that the roadbed acts as a sounding board, and gets pretty noisy. My first guess is to glue the roadbed to cork, then the cork to the platform, which would take care of the first question :)

a ha...it appears that this person noticed the same thing i did (my box has P/N 27242 and "Christmas 2004"):
http://item.express.ebay.com/_Model-RR-Trains__Bachmann-27242-On30-2-Gondola-Christmas-2005_W0QQitemZ250193756099QQihZ015QQadnZModelQ20RRQ2cQ20TrainsQQptdiZ2554QQcmdZExpressItem

"Collector's Note: This car comes in a box indicates Christmas 2004, but as the photos show, it is lettered for 2005. It appears that Bachmann changed the road number on the car, without creating a new item number or packaging. "

Have the Pere Marquette engines arrived yet?

according to the product locator, no.
http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/catalog/?query=berkshire&submit=Search&sortOrder=id
i'm basing availability on whether a 'buy now' button is available for the item...

*phew* thanks :)  i didn't want to have to get a sound decoder for this, since it will only be out for a month each year.

On30 / Climax running questions
December 09, 2007, 01:51:33 PM
I just set up my new Climax for the first time (running around the Xmas tree, based on a prototype in New Hampshire)...I've noticed that the motor is fairly noisy. Is this normal?
I'm running in DC right now, w/ the MRC Railpower 1370 (http://modelrectifier.com/search/product-view.asp?ID=1291).  Does this DC power supply not provide enough power for the Climax?

TIA,
Dmolavi
