Hi All,
We have all been waiting for the arrival of the new loco as identified in the 2020 catalog as 91801, 91803-91805. Delivery is already way behind schedule, lets hope they actually become available by September 2020 as stated by Trainworld. The photos in the Bachmann catalog do not seem to be of the new models which will have the new tender. It will be very interesting to see the new loco. It is advertised as a "new addition to the Big Hauler line" but not as an Annie or Big Hauler. This will be the first 4-6-0 with the plug and play socket which will allow DC, DCC, RC control. and equipped with the new tender.
I will identify it as the Version 7 Chassis as soon as I get one and include all the new identifying features.
Looks like we will have to come up with a new nickname for it to differentiate it from the Big Hauler and Annie 4-6-0. My mind is blank!! How about some suggestions from you regular Forum members??
Some guys have already came up with some ideas. tedyarbrough has come up with Tennie. Big Ten, or T. Wheel maybe? Playing on the Big Hauler, how about Super Hauler? and charon has come up with We have Annie 4-6-0, how about Arnie 4-6-0? Time some loco's get male names. Or how about Bid Ten Tootsie?
Chuck
So come up with your ideas or support the ones already selected. When we get a few we like ww can have a vote on which one to use.
Cheers & Beers,
Loco Bill

I like the Super Hauler.

Traditionally, the "version" or "generation" has been linked to the chassis, specifically the geartrain.
Has the geartrain or chassis actually been changed, or is this just wiring in the tender?
Greg
Based on Greg's suggestion perhaps calling this version a Barry would be appropriate
Stan
I think no matter what we decide, for at least a while it will be a PNP Big Hauler, since having the socket will be seen as the primary improvement and advantage.
Greg
Call it a SevenWheeler if it really has a new chassis?
I hope that "new tender" has smaller rivets!

I don't get it Fred. A 4-6-0 is a 10 wheeler. Why would you call a new version a 7 wheeler?
Just offering up a bit of "tongue in cheek" humor, with no disrespect intended, but also mirroring the situations we have been seeing in this sector of the hobby of late, I'd offer:
The Unicorn .... a mythical beast.
The Big "Wait" Hauler. (or maybe just "The Wait")
The Ghost of Future's Past.
or perhaps
The Seventh Coming, of the Savior of the Big Hauler.
Okay, that last one was too irreverent.
I liked the "Big Wait" ;D :D 8) ::)
Bill
Personally, I'm not buying one no matter what it's called. I already have more than enough Bachmann ten wheelers! ::)

Because it is Version/Generation Seven.

Now you are just being silly! ???
Make it simple. Call it "V7"
TenP. TenWheeler PnP?
Corona Express
Bug Mauler 2020 lmao
Pandemic Generation Model 4-6-0s?
How about the Danny for DCC Annie?
Dear All,
I'm calling mine "Teddy" after Ted Yarbrough, whose interest and support have never wavered!
(I hope that's ok, Ted!)
Have fun!
the Bach-man
With all due respect to Ted and all I suggest "Noseeum"
:D ;D ;D ;D :P :P :P :P
Old Loco Bill
Bill,
Maybe it will be soonseeum!
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
Friends,
An appropriate name might be Dannie, as the twin of Annie?
Just a suggestion.
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
Ted,
Lets hope soonseeum proves to be correct! Hope to meet you in Chama in August!
Bill
Well, I guess I'll have to get two; Billy and Teddy!
Have fun!
the Bach-man
HI Bach-man,
It would truly be an honor and I know Ted would feel the same way, Thanks for keeping a lighthearted approach to having fun, does me a lot of good these days!! 8)
Bill
Bach Man,
As Bill said, that would be an honor, and I also agree we have fun. Thank you Bach Man for the suggestion. I really don't much care what name it has, just as long as they arrive before long. I'll take two, one Flying Grande and one Bumblebee (and maybe a couple more from possible future runs as D&RG 168 and RGS 20)!
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
Well for sure the D&RGW versions are "Teddy's"
Edit: I had a question about the motor but found it. Pittman motors are great!
Mark,
Couldn't agree more on the Pittman motors. Definitely high quality! I had them in many of my HO locomotives, and they seemed to be bulletproof. I know I abused them from time to time with shorts and such but none ever burned up or failed in any way.
No question at all about the Rio Grande versions all being Teddy's!!! Maybe even the Rio Grande 20 if Bachmann ever puts out that version in the future. LOL
Bill
Bill,
I am excited for the Victorian Iron Hose Roundup to be finally (and hopefully) happening this summer. I have tickets!
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
Ted,
I too have tickets and hope to meet up with you there. If you are stopping in Denver, I will try to get you a back scenes tour of the Colorado RR Museum, no guarantees tho. Send any other related emails to my email account or by private message!!
Best, Bill

I hope they have an Excellent Adventure when they run together.
Mr Bach-man, Loco Bill and all,
Do we yet have an 'official' name for the about to be arriving 4-6-0? I would feel VERY honored to have the name Teddy given to the two Rio Grande versions (and maybe future D&RG and RGS paints) and I am sure Loco Bill would be equally honored to have the other schemes called Billy. I am excited to actually SEE these Thursday in Nashville.
Happy Rails to You
Teddy Y
I am looking for a single nickname for all the new loco's as a group, so more like Anniversary 4-6-0 and Big Hauler 4-6-0, but something that reflects the new loco. I am not in love with any of the ideas specifically, so suggestions are welcome.

Greg
I think Greg's idea makes the most sense without blowing one's OWN horn! :-\
All,
The new 4-6-0 is a very updated Annie. The last version produced has the new pilot truck. This version has the plug-n-play with new tender molds and details. I would agree with the PNP Annie as a name.
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
I'm still going with Billy and Teddy!
the Bach-man
Most excellent, Bach-man!
I can't read PNP without saying "Penelope".
Since most people track the versions as version number or generation number I will call it gen 7.... with the PNP socket as this is a big improvement.
In My Chassis identification I will call it Version six, since the chassis is exactly like the existing version six. To differientat between the Pnp model I will call it Version six A with the tender load and trucks as the identifying items
I completely understand Bill, our nomenclatures differ because yours are chassis specific, and I look at it for the total feature content, although early models were mostly predicated on the geartrain changes.
I get ya!
Greg
Hi All,
So thanks to chassis input from Stan Ames I will call it Version 7 in the chassis ID. Chasity and Greg have both suggested PNP in a new nickname, and Bachmann in the catalog identifies it as a new product in the Big Hauler line, and definitely not as an ANNIE upgrade so I will go with their suggestions and call it the PNP Big Hauler 4-6-0, or PNP 4-6-0. Thanks to Greg and Chastity!!
Bill
Loco Bill and all,
Very good decision. I know you put a lot of research and thought into it. While it appears same as the Generation 6 chassis form just initial observations, the new version does have Pittman motor and possibly a flickering firebox light (these may be hard to distinguish from simple examination of exterior of loco). In any event, we soon will have another excellent locomotive from Bachmann.
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
(It will still be hard to call this locomotive a Big Hauler)
Ted, Group,
If PNP Big Hauler 4-6-0 is acceptable to most members, then lets agree to start using it to keep things consistent when we refer to it.
If it does have firebox flicker, that would be a great way to identify the new PNP Big Hauler 4-6-0 when a power source is available. So if anyone can confirm it please do so and I will add it to the ID info.
Bach-man, Inside Track, members, can you confirm??
Bill

Bill,
I do not have a new 4-6-0 in hand but FYI
Features include
• load-synchronized LEDs in firebox and ashpan for realistic
fire glow
• complete backhead detail including operating firebox door
from manual https://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/4-6-0Manual2020.pdf
============
an aside,
The majority of the time, if used, Bachmann Trains uses BIG HAULARS not BIG HAULAR
PNP Big Hauler 4-6-0 sounds good to me! ;)
Thanks for the confirmation on the led flicker in the firebox and ashpan. Probably the best ID feature will be the new Back head with opening firebox door. I will update the ID info with this tomorrow. Thanks for your help on this. Bill
I agree, that and possibly the multi pin connection between the loco and tender.
I like it has the optical chuff sensors in it now, synchronizing the chuffs exactly will be a breeze, no more unreliable physical contacts.
Greg
