Title: USRA 0-6-0 with split gear and bushings
Post by: rudedude on March 05, 2010, 04:13:39 PM
Hello all,

I picked up the above boxed in like new condition however soon discovered the drive gear and connecting wheel bushings are cracked allowing them to slip and lose timing.

Any chance a saving this loco?
Thanks,
R

It's not Spectrum so you need to ask yourself, is it worth spending any money on?

I hunt around the local train show for non-runners  that are visually in fairly good condition and use them to populate the "retired" line on my 1958 GER.

The loco is only worth about $20, and it will cost you $20 plus about $10-12 shipping to fix it. So you may as well just buy a new loco...
