Title: Heisler - plug under water hatchc
Post by: ketchamb@bellsouth.net on September 05, 2014, 09:05:52 PM
I purchased a used G scale Heisler without a manual. Can anyone tell me what the plug is used for found under the water hatch under the coal load.
Thanks
Ketch

An aside,
Since you don't have instructions, the following will be useful.

Click Here (http://youtu.be/cs4OffdgEfA?t=3m33s) to view Bachmann video covering the lubrication of the 1:20.3 Large Scale Heisler Locomotive.

The plugs are lubrication ports.  In my opinion it is better to unscrew the bottom plate to lub the gears.

Chuck, it sounds like you're describing the lube ports on the bottom of each truck. The port in question sounds like it's on top, in the rear bunker. Unfortunately, the instruction manual sheds no light on this, except to say you remove the coal load to install a DCC decoder. So, my guess would be some kind of interface for plugging in a decoder or maybe a speaker for a sound system or something of that ilk. I'd have to see a picture to make a more informed guess.

Later,

You are absolutely correct.  I blew it. When I first read it, I realized it was on the top of the tender.  A while later I reread it and goofed.

Cheers, Chuck
