Has anyone managed to devise decent pickups for Bachmann On30 cars?
Or does anyone know of a possible source, please?

You might try hminky@pacificcoastairlinerr.com. One of Harold's methods would probably work....such as he used on the Mogul tender, or the one where he bent the Kadee coupler spring and applied one to each side of the truck. Have been thinking of doing this myself, to see if it would stop the "flicker". Cheers.
Pat,
Have you cleaned the wheels and track? I haven't experienced any problems except when one or both are in need of cleaning. The metal axles in metal side frames conduct electricity quit well.
