Title: Bachmann Spectrum HO J 4-8-4 DCC Train Wobble
Post by: ScottB on September 18, 2010, 10:40:32 PM
I recently bought a Bachmann Spectrum HO J 4-8-4 DCC train Norfork & Western #82122.  It runs fine but unlike my other DCC Bachmann Trains, this one has a cab wobble.  When it runs, esp slowly, the cab moves slightly left and right and slightly up and down (it's a circular motion).  I've looked at it and can not figure out why it is doing it.  It did it out of the box.  None of my other bachmann trains have a wobble.  Anyone have an idea of why it would do this and is it normal for the 4-8-4?  If it's not normal, any ideas of what to check.  It's not real pronounced, but is noticeable.  Thanks -

Dear Scott,
If the dealer won't replace it, we will. Give the service department a call Monday.
thanks!

It is caused by the drive wheels not being round or not pressed onto the shaft correctly. It may also be the drivers are out of quarter. All of these are hard to fix. I would try to return it for another unit.
