N / Re: EZ Track in autocad?

Joe

Off the track sections I bought. So far so good, I drew up my layout and it works. Now I can play with modifying the layout and when something looks interesting change the layout.

That's a nice image you created of your track - can I ask you what you used for it?  Does it have Bachmann standard tracks in it?
AnyRail
http://www.anyrail.com/index_en.html

I'm on the demo version, you can lay 50 track sections. Registered for $59 it's unlimited.
Has Bachmann EZ Track and many other brands and scales. I find it very easy to use, much easier than XTrkCad, however XTrkCad is free. I may never pop the $59 for AnyRail, I don't use it that much.

I have been noticeing a few diesels thtat look like they need a few days in the shops. Today when i went their, i got the business name. To my surprise, it was GE transportation! And the surprise was that there was a GE44 ton, and a S2 i think plus another engine i cant see. the gate is locked and says no trespassing. I looked up their phone number and am thinking of calling them up tomorrow for permission to go tape the units. I don't know what to expect and if its a good idea. i don't see any trouble from it.
Where is this?

Thanks skipgear, I was wondering if that might be the fix. After your explanation it all makes sense.

N / Another EZ turnout question
January 29, 2010, 08:00:40 PM

Any reason the above setup shouldn't work?

If I switch turnout A to the inner loop, the engine will run in the inner loop no problem. The instant I switch turnout B to the inner loop the engine stops.

With a voltmeter, turnout A switched to the inner loop including the section between A and B has voltage. When turnout A and B are switched to the inner loop, including the section between A and B, it has no voltage.

Also, I'm switching the turnouts manually. Throwing turnout B back to the outside loop doesn't always get the points lined up, or route the power back either. Is turnout B defective?

Thanks

N / Re: 4-8-4 J turn radius

James

This layout is 32" x 60", not a lot of room for those 19"curves! I'm considering a larger layout, so I'll hold off on the Class J.

Thanks for your help.

Wow what a sweet engine, I've been looking for a bigger loco, glad to see it will run those tighter EZ radii.

Anyone know the difference between the #611 (p/n 82153) and the #608 (p/n 82152)? All I can see from the photo & specs is the engine # being different.

For what it's worth, the AnyRail layout program says 323.9mm or 12.75".

That is probably because until pretty recently it had rapido couplers as the only option, but it is now equipped with the MT variety
My local shop couldn't tell me that, I'm driving blind. They weren't sure what conversion I would need to update the couplers if needed either. Heck, the Bachmann web page on this engine says nothing about the couplers.

You guys are the best source of info.

QuoteI'm price sensitive unless you know of a place with deep discounts.

My local hobby shop is very reasonable when it comes to prices, Jim is also very good at finding just what you need. Here is his website: www.jimshobbiesportland.com
You never know he may just have what you are looking for.

Hey, this looks pretty handy, coupler conversion charts in Excel.
http://www.micro-trains.com/00_conversions.htm
The Prarie is listed with micro-trains coupler conversion required.
30 N scale charts, plus other scales. Someone went thru a lot of work.

Thanks for the offer. I'm pretty sure I can run down a Bachmann engine with good couplers. I wouldn't mind Athearn, but I'm price sensitive unless you know of a place with deep discounts.
