N / Re: couplers (again)
February 10, 2017, 05:18:52 PM
As early as 1973-74, I began buying Kadee n-scale boxcars. As you know these are now Micro-trains line.
I have changed couplers for two reasons:
1. to have the coupler compatible with the MTL coupler
2. to use smaller couplers such as the MTL Z-scale couplers
I have also used knuckle couplers that are compatible, but not magnetic.
I do not do much automatic uncoupling and coupling so those work fine for me.

Thank you for the update. I have been "lobbying" for this locomotive
to be offered because I have two of the dcc ready locomotives in which
I hired dcc with sound to be installed.  They are two of my favorite
locomotives.  Every one who viewed the YouTube videos of them
seemed interested in having one.   ;D

Yard master or whom ever, I am puzzled that no update has been announced elsewhere or in reply to my question.
Respectfully submitted.

Brokemoto et al.,
I also model B&O and have Bachmann steam locomotives.
I am very interested in the new 2-8-0 with dcc and sound that is forth-coming.
I hope to reletter a couple for B&O even though they many not be totally of the B&O style.
Delighted to they are coming.  ;D

With all due respect, I like sound [even for n-scale].  My love of trains and railroads started in the early 1940s; my family lived in a second story apartment above their general store. The store was immediately across the street from the B&O depot in my home village, thus that was my first mode for train travel.  I have a few of the Bachmann doodlebugs; two with dcc.  I have not had sound installed yet.  ;)

As I recall, these were announced as due in December 2016.
;)
Still waiting to shop for my Christmas present.

If you have access to YouTube, you will find videos of Doodlebugs models with sound decoders installed.
The one that came through my home village in central Illinois was called the Puddle Jumper.  ;)

Interesting to note after this 2007 post that in 2016 some one has recently purchased the 82513 4-8-2 and is asking about it.

N / Re: Sound for N Scale Bachmann 2-8-8-4 B&O EM-1

The reason I selected ESU LokSound dcc with sound and the ESU speaker is it includes some sounds options that I have yet to find in any other dcc with sound options.  One is the rail click sound.  :D

I had ESU LokSound dcc with sound installed in the two n-scale Bachmann B&O EM-1s I own.  I am delighted with the result.  I had the ESU speakers installed.
I have had similar "upgrades" done to Bachmann steam locomotives to get the sound feature.

N / Re: Spectrum 2-8-0 Traction Tire Replacement
October 20, 2016, 08:51:05 AM
I respectfully request that Bachmann post a link to the instructions on how to replace traction tires on this locomotive and each of those locomotives they offer especially in n-scale.
Perhaps a simply YouTube video would be an excellent option for instructions.

Both tenders have plug/pin connectors for the wiring harness to the locomotive, so it should be as easy as unplugging the plug from the old tender and plugging it into the new one. Of course, the new tender will not have a decoder.

2-6-6-2 tender -

Mark, this tender for the 2-6-6-2 I purchased is from Bachmann Parts; it did not have a dcc decoder installed.  It came as parts when I assembled and then took to the installer with the locomotive I wanted to use it with.

The "new" tender is one that MBK offered recently as a "warehouse find."  There is no indication on the package regarding DCC.
With every thing I own in regards to model railroading in storage, I have no way to disassemble the new tender to check the inside.

I anticipate that the decoder and speaker will need to be removed from the old tender and installed in the new tender, but I am not certain if any soldering will need to be done.

[I have exchanged tenders between two Bachmann dcc steam locomotives, and that just involved unplugging and inserting plug prongs into the tender decoder.  Not the same situation with this.]
Thanks for comments and photos.
