I like the Vanderbilt tenders and purchased one from Bachmann Parts; it is the one sold with the 2-6-6-2 locomotive.
I hired the installation of dcc and sound in this tender and had the installer connect it to one of the 2-10-2 locomotives.
Recently I purchased a new Vanderbilt tender item# 89452.
What steps will I need to take to exchange this new tender for the old one?
Thank you.

It's a pretty crowded marketplace, what with FVM and Kato both making their own versions of those models. Of course, that's never deterred Bachmann in the past, so who knows?
I agree with Mark, the Kato and FVM models are available.  I have 4 Kato SD-70Aces and am very pleased with them.
I doubt that anyone could offer a better version than is already available.

N / Re: suggestion for next n scale steam locomotive.

Bachmann has some dc locomotives that would be a welcome addition if released as dcc dual mode and dcc with sound.  I would hope they would be in the Spectrum line is that is still active.
As already stated above, some in B&O prototype would be very welcome.

N / Re: New 2-8-0 DCC + Sound Question

Dear Bachmann,
Please clarify which of the previous 2-8-0 models is the basis for the new 2-8-0 with dcc and sound.
I own two of the early Spectrum version in which I had dcc with sound installed.
I am delighted with them.
(I was disappointed with the dual mode 2-8-0 and returned it under warranty.  Bachmann did not
have a 2-8-0 to replace it. Thus I took an alternative choice.  The bottom line is I do not know if
others of these 2-8-0s were better than the one I had.)
Thanks.

Thank you for the notice about the finds at MBK.
I placed an order for one of the C&O Vanderbilt tenders.
All of my locomotives and layout items are in storage,
so it will be awhile before I can see how it looks as a replacement
for the one I purchased that was sold with the 2-6-6-2.

Mark, thank you for the information about the Vandies.

I have posted repeatedly that I would like for Bachmann to issue a 2-8-0 like their Spectrum version that came without dcc, buy do it with their dual mode and sound.   I am delighted they have elected to offer the locomotive.
Ever though I had dcc and sound added to two of the earlier versions, I will seriously consider purchase of one or more of the new one even if I have to re-letter it for Baltimore and Ohio.

I like the Vanderbilt tender that was standard with one of the larger locomotives and wish it would be continued as a stock item.
I have hired the replacement of tenders on some of my Bachmann steam locomotives; the first of which was the 4-6-0 that most models said did not have an approach tender as released.

Would have been great to see this one re-released with dcc and sound option.

I am very pleased to see the 2-8-0 is being released with dcc and sound later in 2016.
I have two of the Spectrum version in which I had dcc with sound installed.
They are two of my favorite locomotives.
I would liked Baltimore and Ohio, but that has been a minor issue; I have relettered
many of my steam locomotives to B&O.

I have been begging for Bachmann to release a 2-8-0 with all the current technology; hope my vote counted.

Thanks for both suggestions for tools to get a firm grip.

Now that I have learned how to remove the piece that hold the pilot coupler in place,
I am dealing with the challenge of finding a tool/tweezers/forceps that will grip that
part firmly so it can be put back in place with the proper alignment.

The small plastic piece is quite "slippery" and thus difficult to grip firmly.

I would like suggestions for a good tool

Yes, Mark.   It may not be for old guys with big fingers.
This is one of those projects for a neurosurgeon.   ;)

Now I see the real challenge is replacing that piece!!

It is small and slippery. The space is also small.

I have a Gentle Grips from W/S; I had difficulty retaining a firm grip on the piece
so it could be positioned and pushed firmly into place with proper alignment.
I think I have it in place.

I need some different "forceps" or a hemostat clamp before I tackle replacing the pilot coupler of any more
of the locomotives.
I discovered the 905 would not fit without modifying the hole in the pilot. I found coupler in my inventory that fit nicely and was
smaller that the original pilot coupler.
