Title: Spectrum F40PH issues
Post by: Eddy on February 26, 2008, 11:35:55 AM
I own a Spectrum F40PH locamotive.  The first one kept on constantly derailing so I had to exchange it.  The second one I got still sometimes derails allthough rarely and can sometimes operate a little roughtly (doesn't always maintain a constant speed.  My other trains seem to work fine on the same track.  Any suggestions?

An NMRA track and wheel gauge is invaluable when it comes wheel and track issues like derailing.  Consider adding one to your tool box.

Rough running is often a pickup issue, either between the rails and the wheels or between the wheels and the body.  Some cleaning and lubrication might be in order.  But if the locomotive always slow down in the same place, you might be having gauge problems again.  If the rails pinch the flanges a bit, the locomotive will slow down, particularly at low speeds.
