Hello cg, I just purchased  a 4-4-0 and would like to buy and install the MRC 1665.
I would like to find out if it will work with the "EZ Command" controller. I don't have the ability to reprogram so the factory setting would have to do. Thanks

Mr Bach-Man, what is one do to change CV settings with E-Z command.
I have recently changed my layout to DCC and here is my problam. I have 3 locos a 2-6-0, 2-8-0 and the latest Bachmann 4-6-0. Each one is installed with MRC sound module that works on DC or DCC. All worked fine on my DC system but not on DCC.
The sounds are OK but my 2-8-0 and 4-6-0 jump starts and only goes fast or faster.
The 2-6-0 working normal. The other 2 works normal with the original DCC basic module that came with the locos but not with the MRC
Any remedies or suggestions other than replacing the sound decoders.

I did an other one. My Bumble Be is a very yellow 2-6-2T now.
Made a few improvement on the fit and finish, added a back light and DCC.

Hello Swany, I have installed a MRC DC sound module (it is no longer available) into my  Bumble Bee . The required wiring is the same as for a DCC decoder.
This is what I done. Only have to remove the small printed circit board. Scrape or make 3 brakes along each side for motor, pick up and front light. This will isolate the motor. Solder 6 wires, (color coded to match decoder) to your new contact points on the board. 4 to 5 inches will be enough to feed it out at the back under  the cab roof. Put back board  (1 screw as I remember) make sure the original contacts match the new wires.
The other end can be connected to an 8 pin socket or you can solder it to the decoder (that would be easier if you don't want to remove or change decoders in the future). For the rear light one goes to blue (common) wire and the other to yellow wire.
I did this last year but I can find my notes if you cant work out the color match.
It is easier than it sounds. I am slow typing so I use as few words as I have to.  Cheers

About a year or more there was a write up on installing sound in to  the 2-6-0. There was a set of pictures showing how it is taken apart.  I cant separate the front part and things starting to break off. I done it last year and now I am  completely lost.
Someone with good memory or know how search for old post Please Help!

Not what you think but could be better. My first attempts at kit bash and turned out better than expected. Turned my "Wonderland Express' into a 2-6-2T yard engine or a short hauler loco. Runs forward, backwards through switches and 18" radius curves with ease. All the actions that a Forney can hardly do.
Used all the parts from the 2-6-0 with an addition of a pilot wheel from one of my 2-8-0. The best surprise is that it looks almost identical to a Baldwin narrow gauge "Class 10 ¼- D, Type – 2-6-2T". You can find it on this neat web-site

I have a "Denver & Rio Grande Western" with DC sound installed well here we go to the chop-shop.

Two  more questions comes to mind. The turnouts that are powered from the DC transformer will that stay the same or the DCC controllers also have AC Accessories connection. I also have a reverse loop with the double trow switch, will that need rearranging? Cheers.

Looks like the EZ Command is a good choice for a small layout. Being able to run DCC and DC locos got my attention. Thank you Jim.  E-bay pricing around $70 makes it easy to start a new adventure.

To DCC or not to DCC. I am thinking of jumping in but I am confused. All this model numbers on E-bay, Bachmann DCC EZ Command 00501 or 44902.
Dynamis wireless 36505 controller or 36507.
All I can see now that one is rated 1 Amp and 2.3 Amp for the other.
Which one is the better system and which model number indicates a complete set of what I would need to run a loco. I have a 4x9 layout 8 sections with revers loop , 7 turn outs and 4 DCC locos.
Please help, your input would be of great help.

Total length, 12" including loco and tender.

A biker to a biker, just under 12" long,  2" wide and the top of the cab is 2 1/2" +-.
It is somewhat smaller than a 2-8-0 or the new 4-6-0 but looks proportional to all my other On30 toys. Perhaps you got HO. Cheers

WYE not a reverse loop. Unless you have an end to end layout you can do with 18 inch radius.  I have a 40"x100" +- layout under the Christmas tree and that includes the reverse loop. Cheers
