The challenger, as she runs today, has 2 yellow tenders (oil/water) that follow behind the main tender. What are the names of these yellow tenders? And can they be found in HO scale?
Thanks
Chesticus
OK it is an excursion tender. It is an 800 series. But the golden question is can it be found in HO scale?
Any help would be appreciated.
Chesticus
The quick answer would be no.
Lionel sold these a year ago. I have tried to purchase these. They came with the Gas Turbines. They said they would "Never" sell these separately....
The email from them was strait-to-the-point.. At the time, I was almost sorry had I asked!!
I have sence used this unit behind my Challenger, made by Lionel... does not figure!!!!
the aux water tender is from the 8500 hp turbine, NOT the Veranda Turbine that Lionel sold, and has only been released in brass.
the veranda tender will work as a stand in, but the two look nothing alike other than color and a walkway with railings on top.
however since it's the only thing out there, if you can find one....

the correct tender

the veranda with tender

the real thing

and now even that tender has been rebuilt, and looks completly different
