Paxton actually uses a new mold, unlike Diesel, Arry & Bert. He has a very strange faceplate that includes the green part of his front around his face, and the piece extends all the way to the piping on his front.
Exactly, they could easily use that for Sidney if they ever decide to make him.

What if the reason they haven't made Sidney yet is because his face design doesn't work with the eye mechanism
Paxton's face didn't fit either, so they just resized it accordingly. I'd imagine they would just do the same with Sidney.

This chat went dead again so I wanted to ask another question. Since a brand new Flat Car with logs is getting released, does this mean the Paint Drum variant won't be as valuable as the new one? Like if I put one on eBay, would it get more than say $200, with bachmann collectors' knowledge of a new cheaper version?
If you sold it today, I'm sure you'd get a good amount of money. However, after the new model comes out and becomes a common item, it probably won't be worth as much. You will probably still get a decent amount from it because of the hardcore collectors out there, but I doubt it will be in the absurd $200-$500 dollar range they are in at the moment.

Has anyone ever thought of Bachmann making Murdoch? It's pretty realistic because they've made his real life loco in branch line, it's just a thought.
It isn't realistic at all. Yes, they have the tooling, but that's a very expensive engine to make. Considering they aren't introduceing any new tooling whatsoever into the the range at the moment, it's not going to happen.

Considering they confirmed they are discounting Arry and Bert just over a week ago, that's not gonna happen.

I really hope we do eventually get the Explosives Van in HO Scale. I'd also like to see the Toffee and Chocolate Syrup Tankers get made in HO Scale someday. The HO Explosives Van is especially long overdue.
Me too, I really like the explosions van, but I'm tired of the GWR van tooling. I would love to see them bring the G scale design to HO. They used to make the LNER vans as part of the Mainline range, so they already have the tooling.

To be frank, I like the paint drums. Its a lot more colorful and vibrant than something like oil drums (even though oil drums would be a great load) I think I like the Paint Drum variant so much is because I really liked Calling All Engines as a kid, and still kinda do today (don't judge me) and the Flat Car with Paint Drums was exclusive to that special (to my knowledge. I also really love the almost 100% accurate mold for the Flat Car itself. I'm honestly surprised it's taken so long to rerelease the Flat Car with a new load. I just hope the new one with logs isn't green or has Sodor logos on it. I just want the original Flat Car in grey and that's it.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the paint drums as well, and I'm definitely not going to give up searching for the original flat car. it's not even nostalgia for me, I just think the paint drums look nice. For most people however, I think the car itself is the main selling point, not the load. That's why I think(and really hope) the price of the original will go down with the release of the new one.

However, with the advent of a new Flat Car with logs getting released this year, I'd say either the hype for the OG Flat Car with either die down a little or skyrocket even more. Only time will tell.
I think it could be likely for the hype to die down, considering most people just want the flatbed model itself, not the paint drums. However, there definitely will be many people who want the older model. I'm sure it will still be fairly expensive on eBay, but I don't think the prices will be as ridiculous as they have been.

I just hope that maybe someday, Bachmann will be able to be rid of the budget problems they've been having and then maybe someday we could get Large Scale Diesel for real as well as other characters like Bill, Ben, Duck, or even Edward. But maybe that's me being too hopeful again.
What exactly are the budget problems? Is there anywhere to find information on it?

Does anyone think the Sordor Coal Co. wagon will replace the regular coal truck? I hope not considering the coal truck is the nicest of the available open wagons in my opinion.

Personally, I'm just happy the flatbed is back. The new open wagons will probably be nice as well considering they have loads. I'm not to interested in Red Rosie all that much; I just hope she doesn't replace the original. I'm assuming she won't however considering Grumpy Diesel didn't replace regular diesel. No G scale or NG items is disappointing. I'm conflicted on N scale though. It will probably be nice, but it will definitely take away resources from other lines, which is disappointing.

As long as they reintroduce the flatbed in some way, I will be happy.

Its amazing what details goes in and what other things are forgotten.

The twins not having water tanks was done deliberately; it's not a detail Bachmann missed. They never actually had water tanks in the TV series.

Yeah, I guess I wasn't really thinking about it in that way when it came to the Duncan/Oliver thing. You are probably right when it comes to Duncan then. It better off just to skip him, unless he is directly modeled after his basis.

I also find it really, really interesting how literally everyone who responded to the question on Duncan earlier mentioned that they would either pass on Duncan or suggest skipping him entirely.
I don't think I would skip Duncan entirely. I really do think he will be a nice model no matter what he is based on. Oliver was still really nice despite his CG model having just as many flaws, and I still picked him up. I just think that basing Duncan off the model series or his real life basis would make the model much nicer.
