Title: NORTHERN 4-8-4
Post by: TERRYMIKEC on January 01, 2014, 08:54:14 AM
How can I find out when this engine was made  and what actual make of locomotive was it patterned after? It has smoke & electronic chug-chug & steam whistle. What type of control do  I need to make it operate properly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Scale and who made it, roadname, engine number, etc., etc..?

Pretty hard to give you any information without more information from you.  :(

It is a Bachmann NORTHERN 4-8-4 & 52' Tender WITH chug-chug & steam whistle.
The engine has 5601 C.B. & Q on the side. The Tender has NORTHERN  ROUTE on the side
and 18000G 40T on the end. It is HO scale

The  18000G means how much water it holds, and the 40T refers to the amount of coal it holds in tons.
Does it have a extra button on the under side like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/86150435@N04/11697692843/

And did it come in a box? if so what colors and look for a trademark date

Dear Terry,
Your loco dates back at least to the 90of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy RR.. s, and represents a Northern 4-8-4. I would characterize it as a credible semi-scale model.
Have fun!
