I know this is an ancient topic, but I stumbled across it and it makes it sound like the Bachmann ten0-wheeler had sound recorded from Tweetsie # 12? Is that correct?
If so, which whistle is it? I went through them all on my ten-wheelers and none sounded like the real locomotive.

I agree with Ton's post, those trains are moving exceptionally fast for what their real-life speed would be.
Narrow gauge trains were never noted for high speed operations. In real life, they'd both be moving much less than half the speed you have them at in the video.

As far as I know, the ET&WNC flats had bare wood decks, as most other wood topped flats were. The problem is all the photos I have of ET&WNC flats from my collection and in books, none show the deck from above looking down.

Looks like weathered bare wood to me, but you can't really tell if it was painted black as well at one point. I have some color photos from the latter era of the 3-foot operation but none show flat cars.
The ET&WNC had 32-foot flats that were more than a little beefier than the SR&RL ones you're getting. But you make a point about flats being flats.

I wrote an article for this year's Annual as I have done in years past (this one is about the projects I did during the pandemic lockdown) and while I have gotten a PDF proof in the past, I didn't get one for my article in the 2020 annual nor have I gotten one for this one yet.
I ordered a copy as well yesterday as authors only get one copy and I always liked having an extra of everything in which I get published.
One thing's for sure, I've never seen a On30 Annual I didn't think was worth the cover price (though I must agree that cover price seems pretty steep). There's always something cool to look at.

I have saved the link, as I yanked the wiring out of all my passenger equipment (one Bachmann and two AMS coaches).
The RR I model (the ET&WNC) didn't seem to use lighting in daytime runs, looking at period photos, so I'm no hurry to put lights back into any of them. But still, it's good to see a good way to do it if I change my mind later.

You can make an easy 'shorty' converted flatcar/gondola using the Bachmann high gon, by cutting the down the top two horizontal beams, then placing a sheet metal sign in the center of each long side with a three digit road number and weight.

I think Bachmann flooded the market with On30, as you could find the stuff very cheaply, but after the stuff sold, it's now hard to find.
That, and Lee Riley passing, led Bachmann to think maybe they'd made a mistake?
I showed my ideas for ET&WNC marked cars (including a very easy conversion for the undec tank car) to a Bachmann rep at two train shows but nothing ever happened with it. How they can have 4 ET&WNC engines but not a single car for the same road name, baffles me.
But the new 'trench' engine clearly shows they have ideas for On30.

I still would like to know where they got the info on their light shade of OD green for the restoration. I can't think of anything made for the US Army in WW1 that ever came in that shade.
Nonetheless, it looks amazing and badly hope to get down to see this someday!

Geez, where were you with this when Trainworld still had non-sound Bachmann ten-wheelers for ridiculously low prices? I'd have bought a green-gold 12 for sure if I'd known this was coming!
Just wondering about the programmed sounds, as someday I wanna have a ET&WNC ten-wheeler with Tweetsie (former ET&WNC) #12's real sounds coming from it...

Yeah, the wires from the trucks to the lighting system in the roof is what stymies people, including myself at first.
The problem is that roof doesn't open the entire inside of the car for easy access as there are supports that get in the way. You're going to have to unattach the lighting wires to really get inside there. Once you do that, you can really get at the inside of the car by removing the body to get to the seats.
I run with DCC, and I never liked the lights in those cars, so I never concerned myself with hooking them back up, but many people will wanna be careful so they can get the lights working again once you're done.
FYI, if you use ACC or superglue to put anything in the coach, let that completely dry before you put the body back on. Otherwise, the fumes will cause any previous fingerprints to show up in white on the clear plastic windows...

I think Bachmann is looking for items that have overall appeal. us narrow gauge types can be a finicky bunch, as most NG lines never interchanged with another and the rolling stock was all landlocked.
For example, the new-ish Baldwin Class 10s got scattered all over the world after WW1, and could justifiably show up on many NG lines.
Many of the existing locos can be modified into all kinds of things. I saw a neat article a while back where someone took one of the ET&WNC Baldwin ten-wheelers and made it into a credible Southern Pacific NG loco.
It makes me wonder how well the Forneys sold and how much desire there really is for new England prototype stuff...

Well, Bachmann released a 2-6-2 within the last 12 months. Yeah, it's a 2-6-2T (and a WW1 trench engine), but it is out there.

I was lucky, when I decided to get into On30, you could get Bachmann cars for around $20 all day long. So, I bought them up, and now I have more than a small layout as mine really needs (I have a few flatcars and low gondolas I cut down to resemble 'shorty' ET&WNC converted flats that have been in the boxes since the paint dried on the weathering). Now, Bachmann availability is tanked and prices have shot up to the point where people are pointing out that Accucraft cars are actually cheaper and more easily found from retailers.
Some say that the sales of some Bachmann products proves nobody wants the stuff. Nah, that just shows that some retailers like Trainworld bought oodles of the stuff and don't wanna hang onto it. Just check what conventional retailers are doing, and the stuff is selling and they're having issues keeping it in stock.
I just hope this is part of a bigger strategy, where Bachmann On30 products come back into availability.
God knows I don't need more rolling stock, but I know plenty of people who want the stuff and are having problems finding them...

The roof pries off, and you have to unsolder the light bar that is directly underneath that and wired down through the trucks.

Be very careful here. I took one of these apart once and saw how the gearing works. You probably have something wedged into the gears that won't go any further in the forward direction and it's pushed to the end (though not off) the gears going the other way.
It sounds like you really have something wedged in there, and just leaving it in there, well, nothing good can come from that...
