Title: Henry's wheel alignment before he came to Sodor
Post by: JLK2707 on March 18, 2012, 04:18:54 PM
Was Henry a 4-6-0 or a 4-6-2 before he arrived on Sodor?

He was similar to Gordon in shape and appearance, but in the books he was a 4-6-2, one of the illustrations showed him with a pony truck under his cab, see 'The Three Railway Engines'

If you are asking regarding the TV series version, he was delivered as a 4-6-0.

But in other illustrations, Henry is depicted as a 4-6-0. Not all of the RWS illustrators were very consistent in their illustrations :P

Which is likely in part of Dalby, who didn't have much faith the series would expand beyond a few books, but I think the general assumption is 4-6-2 is an illustration error.

Henry is based off the black 5 class, which was a 4-6-0 wheel arrangment. There could've been a time where he had a trailing truck and it got removed cause it was considered not needed, but I'm just gonna say it was a simple mistake  ;)

I have to agree, i couldn't imagine Henry having the same wheel arrangement as Gordon.
