Well  we  are    into  AUGUST  now  and  still no  concrete  information  on  the  Whitcomb diesel!

Is  it  subject  to  the  production  delys  which  seem  to delay  many Model Railway items  these  days, or  has it  proved  not  be  be  of  sufficient  interest  to potential buyers to warrant  investment in its  production.

Some  of  us  still wait in anticipation

When  using  reverse  loops  I  find   it  MUCH  easier   to  simple  use  a  reverse loop  module,  theses  are  comparatively inexpensive , simple  to  connect, and  they  work.

I have  used  them  for  many  years  on  both  my  indoor  and  outdoor lines

As  a  modeller  in  scales  from  Z  to  G scale and   more  years in modelling  than I  care  to remember , started in  the  early  60s!,  I would  suggest  that  using  flexible  track  is  the  way  to  go!

Flex gives  you  full freedom to plan your  layout,  you  are  unrestricted  by  the  Geometry  of  setrack

AND the  big  advantage  is  it looks  more  realistic,

After all  you  dont  see many  exhibition  layouts  that  use  setrack do you?  ( at  least  over  here in the UK  I  haven't)

I  had  a  Garden  line  for  over  30  years!

I  always   simple  laid  the  cables  from  the  switches  under  the  ballast. in  some  cases  just  buried  it  in  the soil ( I think  you call   soil  Dirt), or  even  under  grassed  areas  in  order  to  shorten  the  distance  from   swictch  to  control  point,  Thgis  method  worked  fine  for  years,

When  i  went  MASSOTH  digital  all the  wiring  was  disposed of  and  a  simply  added  decoders  to  the  switch  machines  and  took   a connection  from  the  nearby track,

When  I  pulled  up  the  old  wire  I  had  3  large  refuse  (garbage) bags  full to  dispose  of!!!

I have  to  agree  with  the  above  that  the  popularity  of  0n30  may  be  declining,  I  have  modelled in  the  scale  since  Bachmann  first introduced  the range   some   15 or  so  years  ago,  but  I  have  to  admit  that   my  enthusiasm  for 0n30 these days  is  not  as  great  as  it   was.

I still buy some  0n30  but  not  as  much  as  I used to, I spend  more  on other  scales.

It is  noticable  that  demand  for  0n30 on the  2nd  hand  market has  declined as  well,  it  is  quite  common for  me  to  list   items on eBay  at  reasonable   start  prices  and  not  sell them  wheras   a few  years  back everything  listed  sold  at  good  prices.

Interestingly  Bachmann Europe  produce  around  5 or   6  NEW locomotives  and  several NEW items of rolling  stock  each  year in their   UK 00  &  Ngauge  ranges,  no doubt  the  same  can be  said  for  H0   &  N in the  USA

I have  had  a  few Heislers  but  never  a  leaning  one, sounds  like   the  prroblem could  be  caused by badly fitting bogie or bogies ( sorry  TRUCKS!!)

It may be advisable   to return it  for  a  replacement

Thing  to  remember  0n30  is  7mm /foot  scale,  EZ track  is  imtended  for  HO  which  is 3.5mm/foot scale,  so  the  sleeper (ties) are  small  and incorrectly  spaced  for 7mm scale.

That's not right.

The American On30 is 1/4 "/ foot scale = 6.35 mm / foot = 1:48. Learn more about it  in the NMRA Standards.
(The British O scale is 7 mm/ foot scale = 1:43,5.)

EZ track is a HO 1:87 scale track, the space between the sleepers is too narrow and the sleepers are too smal. The gauge for On30 and HO is the same 16,5 mm. BUT NOT THE SCALE!!!!
Correct On30 ready built On30 track have  Microengineering  www.microengineering.com and Peco www.peco-uk.com/prodtype.asp?strParents=3309,3316&CAT_ID=3320&numRecordPosition=1.
