Tried the tape Jeff. I would have to say it is a power issue with the sound locomotives. I have tried three others and the result is the same. The sound units will not go through the frog unless you have applied a lot of power to them. Not a realistic scenario for sure. The regular DCC units work fine through the frog  of power Sound units do draw more power than the regular DCC units for sure. Thanks for your tip and input.

On30 / 0-4-2 Porter
June 16, 2012, 01:51:31 PM
Has anyone noticed any difference between a regular DCC Porter and a DCC Porter with sound passing through an insulated frog turnout ? I have found the regular DCC version to sail through the turnout while the version with sound will hesitate and then proceed . Running in very slow speeds the sound version will stop on the turnout. Coincidence or a fluke or what. Your thoughts.

Thanks so much to you RGS Goose. I did check out page 31 of these forums and found lots of methods. Now the trick is to decide what works best. Michael

Would be very interested on hearing if anyone has attempted this and how you did it. Were the efforts a success ? Thanks Michael

18 " is a breeze and on good days a 15 " radius if you talk to her right will do too. Slow on the 15 helps too. canpac

On30 / Re: Bachmann 4 4 0 DCC and DC
May 23, 2012, 11:03:40 AM
Hi there....I have run a 4-4-0 that has DCC on board in DC mode and it works fine. You don't need to remove any firebox cover to get this locomotive to work. The solution is to insert those connetors that trail off the locomotive into the two corresponding sockets on the tender. Once done the lights will come on when you apply power and you should have good motion both forward and reverse on your 4-4-0. Enjoy your locomotives. Hope this helps. Michael .canpac

To Bill in Florida....Thanks for the advice. I will keep nit for further reference. I am now able to operate this locomotive after discovering the cables from the tender to the locomotive were partially out of their connectors. Have made them right and reconnected aaaaand we have action on the rails. Merry Christmas to all and to you Bill especially. Michael
