im tring to convince my dad into getting a Bachmann j class 4-8-4 with sound converted into a CNR U4-a class Northern by the folks at esn model trains in Barrie, Ontario.
he thinks it's not worth it to get a engine that works fine already converted inot something that might not work as well.
to the best of my understanding after the conversion the models are tested and all problems worked out. this is my favourite loco and I don't want to pay $3000+ for a brass model of it
if you have anything to say that could help me in my quest please feel free to say it! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) 8)
I didn't see that they would do that conversion.

i talked to the Person who does the conversions Via e-mail and he said that he can do the conversion with the model that has sound.
Okay, Andy. (Note capital "A"). I saw one for a "Bachmann Plus 4-8-4." If he would like the IHC Vanderbilt tender, then he'd love the Spectrum 16V Vanderbilt since it already has the Bachmann 2 and 4 plug connectors. Might knock a few bucks off the price, especially since they are readily available and don't cost very much.
Ask Roger Traviss what he knows about the company.
Gene
he said he uses the specrum tender for the spectrum conversion
thanx for the link!
Looks like an 0-6-0 and a N-4-f will be arriving when funding is high
