I have been using the Bachmann turntable for a couple of weeks. Very often the ends of the platform do not correctly line up with the tracks for the stalls. It's only misaligned by a millimeter or so, but this is enough to interfere with the engine's smooth transition to/from the platform. Is there any fix for this? Do I return the t.t. (that would be a real pain!!!) Thanks for your thoughts and info.
Is it possible to just nudge it into place?
yup, that is possible, but it is not what I had in mind when I purchased the t.t. It is disappointing that it is not reliable. I can't imagine it was designed with that in mind.
I don't have a turntable, I'm just guessing here. But could you install some small magnets to help it align properly at each position?
Did you buy it from a store or from the internet?
Since you said returning it would be a pain, I'm guessing either the internet or you threw away the receipt.
Thanks Jon. But I am not interested in a Walthers. My needs can easily be met with the Bachmann if I can over come this problem.
Dear Bob,
Please contact the service department.
They will be happy to discuss your options.
Thanks!
the Bach-man
After several weeks of use, the tracks seem to be lining up a bit better. I have even just let it rotate in both directions for several minutes at a time...The engines seem to be having less issues making it on and off the tt. I am hoping that if i keep using, it will "settle in" to correct alignment all of the time. Thanks all, for your input.
This reminds me of something I once read (semi-completely unrelated to trains).
Back in the days of steam-powered ships, a new vessel (even when run under full steam) would not reach it's peak speed for a few voyages. The engines would need to be 'run in' to smooth out their operation.
Seems to have been the same problem with your tt. Maybe there was a slight burr somewhere that is wearing away.
