I have returned to the forum today after a long absence and after running back to a February entry about the Overland Limited Freight set with the old and new 484 locos including some pics of both locos. I have one of each of the ATSF Northern clone and NYC Niagara clone of A UP "806". ( I converted the old ATSF 806 to a fictional CNR 6100 Class 484 by adding side skirts and light green paint)
Question: Why did Bachmann not produce either a correct version of old 806 or later 800 class UP loco such as the 844 FEF( by Walther's) that was also mentioned in that entry? Was it that Walther's had a design reproduction patend of the FEF UP loco? What was the reason for cloning other Bachman Loco's ( incidentally, The Niagara clone does resemble the original 806 more than the ATSF Northern. Which brings me to another question: Did Bachmann clone the Niagara 806 from an original Bachmann NYC Niagara? -(-Which I have never seen) Where did it come from? Hope this will not confuse anyone reading this. Thanks . Carbud

Does the Bachmann Overland 806 4-8-4 Niagara with the grey skin and yellow trim make a realistic train pulling a set of Union Pacific yellow 6 axle heavyweight coaches? Was such a passenger train pulled by grey 4-8-4s or were the UP trains pulled by black FEFs such as the real 806 depicted in photos  provided earlier in this subject.If anyone knows which one it was I would like to know since I'm trying to make this train as real as possible. A photograph of the UP FEF northern showing UP 806 shows that the Overland Limited 806 in the Bachmann trainset does not quite resemble the original engine.If the HO 806 is in fact a a repro of a real engine then which one of the UP 484s does it resemble?It looks more like one of the later 484s like a higher 800 number.And if so why did Bachmann choose to number its UP engine #806?It was a step in the right direction since the previous 806 was a clone of ATSF 's 3700 class locos.I guess I would have to change the gray paint scheme to overall black to match the UP 806 as it was for real.

Hello pds1506  Re:Coal loads---If you mean the size of the coal load that fits a particular car --this should not be a problem if you use the real thing like Ashtray sand which is black and resembles coal,eliminating the need to fit the right shell on a car.

I have several CN Rail zebra stripe ROCO Austria Sharknose A's and Bs but I don't know if CN ever had Sharks since I've never seen Sharks in any photos of CN diesels.Can anyone verify wether these CN Sharks are models of the real thing or just marketed for Canadian HO scale Train Bufs---Carbud--(Bill in Vic BC)

For Roger or Gene----Bill in Vic BC Re:  The IHC Hudson,which looks very Canadian,wouldn't be the same one that was brought out by President's Choice as a Christmas special for the kids in the colors of CNR # 5702 with an oversized Vandy tender,would it? If it is,since the IHC Hudson in the 2007 Walther's Catalog was never illustrated and not available until late this year,then it was meant to be Canadian and not issued as an IHC product in the states. I have updated that one to look like the real 5702 by adding sections of a winterized cab and replacing the existing tender with one from a Bachmann UP Overland Limited Short Vandy Barrel oil  tender with modified hand rails and coal box,using black ashtray sand as coal.

Re: Overland 484-- The picture of the 4-8-4 in  msowsuns message is of the ATSF 4-8-4 Northern that came with the earlier set of the Overland Limited( cloned by Bachmann from their ATSF Northern for a half dozen other RRs) and was replaced by a 4-8-4 Niagara which is available in the new Overland Limited trainset.The origin of the Niagara is unknown since it is also not a direct copy of Up's original # 806 but does resemble it more closely than the Northern. --Carbud

Since IHC isn't in a hurry to reply to emails , i don't know what their intentions are about making and issuing anymore CNR green and black Heavyweight 6 axle coaches so how about Bachmann rolling out a set of Spectrum CNR versions of their U.P. cars for example. I have the IHC -Mehano P C Hudson and need some coaches to make a train.

Hello Mr B and everyone on site, I,m looking for a set of Canadian National Railways heavyweight 6 axle passenger cars.If anybody has any for sale or knows of any makers or internet dealers who have them please let me know.I have a set of the same in UP yellow made by Bachmann so maybe this company could roll a CNR set off the assembly line.
