Sorry for the loss. I too have seen posted material of Al's work. p51 has a point. Born in 60 I find people older than myself still very enthusiastic about Model Railroading. Starts when we are young takes hold and stays with us. While at a Narrow Gauge Symposium in Houston years ago I found out from Al Roos that a Modeler I admired very much Bob Clarke, had past away. I had no idea till then. I still have the issue of MR showcasing his HOn3 version of the Ironhead Timber layout. Great people in a fine Hobby. God's speed Al.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have aquired some PSC boiler door # plates. Also I like the idea of creating them as well. For now I have a Shay spare parts bag with a #6 boiler door. That will do for now. Word to the wise. I was told by the Parts Dept that when ordering a Shay Spare parts bag the boiler door plate # is random when the selection for shipping is done. IE no specific request can be made. Thanks again for the feedback.

I am just thinking about doing a Railway Series version of old shape Henry. Would using a Bachmann Gordon body shell and doing the modifications to it be a good idea?

One thing you can expect is that when you try it out for the first time it probably won't run.  45 years is a very long time to sit idle .  Old cars won't run after that long of a time, but everybody expects toy trains to jump to life. The lubricants will probably have congealed and all electrical contact points will have heavily oxidized.

Be ready to gain access to the gear train to clean all the old lubricant out with a wood toothpick and apply new light grease.  Then you'll need to thoroughly clean the locomotive wheels and the track if you expect it to run.  Rather than try to explain all that here I refer you to the many videos on YouTube for both jobs. Just remember to never use abrasives for any of that, It scratches the track up allowing it to oxidize even faster.

Cv 128 is the master volume.  Reset to a value 100 to see if it comes on, then turn it up or down to suit.  But don't turn up so high the horn distorts.

Can you glue a 2nd magnet to the axle, 180 degrees from first?  That would improve your chuff rate, just wouldn't be synced to loco gears.
