Greetings from Kiwi. I have just taken posession of a HO San Francisco Cable Car of the Classic Collector Series), this still in its original box and looking a little worn. I would like to service the motor but am asking how to access the motor bogie I'm a bit wary of the plastic being rather brittle. The car body carries a POWELL & HYDE STS sign on the roof and along the side is the no. 11 followed by a SMIRNOFF advert sign. I have no idea of the age of this car therefore any help would be greatly appreciated.

N / Restoring N-scale SD40
July 12, 2007, 09:41:49 PM
To Bach Man - Help wanted. Have started to restore what I suspect is a SD40 which I somehow inherited. The motor has been removed, cleaned and tested and runs OK. In cleaning out the slot in the main chassis, there was a lot of coagulated grease mixed up with bits of plastic indicating a heavy hand with the oil or grease at some stage of its life. Any ideas what the plastic might be from? I am about to track and clean up the current path from the bogies and indications are that this is a very old locomotive wearing UP livery. Can you tell me if there is a Bachmann agent here in New Zealand please.
