Large / bachmanns new loco-a diesel

i hear from a very reliable source that bachmann is in the final stage of development and tooling for a large scale 1-20.3 G.E. U-50-B. production should start in early 2009. i asked why such a large and obscere loco and was told that because of the b-trucks it would run on 8 foot min. radious curves and the car body would be easy compared to other locos. i think this will be a big seller as long as the price is good. ill take one in s.p.!

snoq. pass r.r. only a moron would possibly think that i was refering to anything other than new in the box from an autherized retailer! who in the heck would hold bachmann to blaim! also after i delt with all the meney problems and i boke it in running light, it is a dam fine running loco. (i use white lithium grease in the gear box and 102 heavy on all other moving parts)

Large / connies with problems
April 10, 2008, 09:22:21 PM
it seems people in new zeland are having problems with final gears. i just received my connie and its good i heard about the problems. the first thing i did was rip it apart and i found all of the gear box screws-gear box cover screws and mount screws very very loose. if i had run it only for an inch i would have destroide the drive train. who would be to blame?- me! as i know that quality controll at bachmann is out to lunch. the only way they can redeem thereselves is to no.1-ship replacement parts real fast for those that whant to fix the problems themselves no.2 offer free shipping both ways (fast) for those who dont want to clean up after bachmann workers. we will keep buying if this is the case. if not i will buy from another manufacturer.

that was a typo. i run my k on 16 1/2  foot curves not 6 1/2. what about the johnson bar location? its position can make noise in reverse? if my k is running light it does not make a noise in reverse. i think the skweel in curves is flange skweel? when i run it with cars i only run 6 cars ,caboose ,and 1 aml j&s pas car.a total of 8 cars.

all the couplers will mate yes  , but  i model 1-20.3 and the connies  couplers are to low as well as the new porter to meet up with the new cars and engines and this is fine. my question was what does bachmann or anyone offer out there in a screw driver replacement to get em higher??? i called bachmann today to find out- this is what i was told by the first person- boy why do you want to couple your trains togeather?  he transfered me to bill and bill said the guy that might know should be walking through sometime today. he also said that nobody knows there and i tend to think he might be right! mr bachmann - you should run for office you have a nice way of just saying ennoff as to not get in truble but not realey giving any solid answer. i do thank you though ,and appresiate this site.  (i need help spelling) bob.

my k also sqweeks in the 6 1/2 foot curves  and also makes a low ka ka ka in reverse. my k is more than well lubed and this drives me nuts! i think the best we can do is run them till they blow and through them in the lake or make bird feeders out of them. bob.

Large / connie 2-8-0

i ordered a connie from trainworld at a steal of 256.31 with shipping. i did not know that there was a problem with the drive. i would guess that they do or they wouldnt be selling them at this price. i had to send my k back to bachmann and with my luck i will with the connie as well. if there is something out there that is broken or messed up in some way i will end up with it. i would be very happy if it actualy runs. also i was told that the cupler height on the k and connie as well as the new porter is the same? if not what cupler do i use for the 0-4-0? i would like to use all bachmann as i do not use kd. also will the k doghouse fit on the connie? does bachmann offer a plow for the connie? thank you. bob.

i never ran the k until it was back from repair. i have oiled it three times in all areas of movement. the noise it makes in reverse is more of a faint thuk thuk thuk. it doesnt realy sound like a bad gear. it might be side rod excess clearance kind of slaping. it has about 2 hours of run time indoors only. the scweel might just be that i need to install flange lubricaters like i did on my big boy in nevada. any suggestions would be appreciated. i might just run it untill it falls apart and we will know whats wrong with it without a dought . then bachmann can fix it.
