Chuck,

and I thought my de-railing cars was a headache!!!First I've heard of this issue  ???

I haven't suffered your issue of yet (a good deal of round the Cmas tree running this season), though I've had mine open and peeked around inside.

Thomas isn't built on the inside the way I would have hoped (with the motor directly driving eyes and wheels at same junction) but it is a pretty simple design.  here is a post that shows all the guts:

http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=12168

I'm waiting on some suitable batteries for a RC conversion then I plan to get back to running Thomas-Outside!

Sorry for your woes, glad to hear your dealer is willing to swap.  Please let us know how things turn out!

Good Luck!

Stan, nice video. Looks to be a smooth-running loco. Gotta work on that brake squeal timing, though.  ;) Great snow picture as well. You'll find that same scene in almost every book written on the Maine 2-footers.

Later,

K

Agree Kevin, nice Video...

Funny; Ole Man Winter...the Video and Snow Pic look like they were taken over 2 different seasons...Crazy how the weather can change so quickly!...I don't envy you Yanks one bit!

NM

it appears to be the hooks in the H&L fighting each other as the cars track into the curve sections...really odd.  got to be a headche for all involved yesterday, so Thomas went to the sheds...we'll give it some more attention later this week...may consider "chain" to couple the cars and remove all H&L .

Good for You Vic...
got our Thomas A&C out this evening...tried as shipped...Clarabel let go every time it came to the first Corner..(using all Bachmann track around the tree)...

switched to the "Garden Height" with provided mounts...

still WILL NOT NEGOTIATE the turn...headed out now to add some handy zip-ties to couple till we can gut him and get him outside....

total BUMMER!!!!  Like I don't have enough to do tonight before Sun-up!!!!

>:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(

was this "anticipated"?

Merry Christmas!

AL

ok-point taken

they don't necessarily call it anything specific "as shipped"...but list the extension pieces as "High Coupler Position Piece" and "Low Coupler Position Extension Piece"  from there it goes to the above mentioned Garden Railroad Height.

I can see how someone could/would ignore the enclosed paperwork, it's packaged inside the "comic book", 4 pages of addendum on what appears to be 8.5x11 white paper...haven't we all read the Big Hauler book?  I'd have not noticed or cared if I hadn't been looking for a parts diagram... :D

gbbari,

I'm not sure they indicated a "name" for the coupler heght as shipped.
The Thomas set is in the States and I'm in Canada at this time, so can't check.

I still find it interesting that folks will receive a new piece of equipment and not read the supplied documentation.  Result being they miss important information and then "jump" all over the forum playing a blame game for an issue that is not of the manufacturer's making.

They do indeed name the "height"....it's there in the Supplied Documentation..."Garden Railroad height" pg numbered GTC01-IS001 near center of page....Vic if you need the parts, We'll share ours!

Merry Christmas!

My dealer called this afternoon to tell me his distributor received their shipment of Forney locomotives.

The dealer should have his order by this coming Tuesday.  Won't be long now till the CD&StL has its Forney on the iron. 8)

Now that is some Serious Customer Service, each time a new Bachmann loco/product arrives at your LHS's Distributor, your LHS calls you to let you know your standing order will be on the way soon- what gives?  I can't convince my LHS to stock any large scale...they've chosen not to even pick-up a few LS Thomas sets?
