Depends on the car.  They offer the choice just to be Prototypically accurate. For example:  An  older 70 ton hopper would most likely have 33" wheels where as a  newer 100 ton hopper has 36" wheels.

I got mine from Walthers but you must be able to get it at any hobby shop.  Ring Engineering, comes with 33" or 36" wheels has red blinking light

HGC   I have the eot device and it works perfectly.  It is new and I'm willing to bet that none of these people have even seen it. It has a truck mounted circuit board and you don't need brushes  because it comes with everything it needs. If you have anymore questions ask me I can test it for you.

Ring Engineering makes them. It screws in place of one of the trucks and no modification is required. I got mine from Walthers.

Try oiling it first siderods gears everything. Make sure all the wheels are turning too.

yes it is.  older trains had larger wheel flanges and therefore needed higher rails. I also have some Marklin cars that could not be used on code 83 track because of the large flanges.  It was thought that this would solve derailment problems. Today most trains have flanges that are to scale and don't need high rails. Buy a pack of each and see what you like better. the cost is the same for each.  If you don't have any old trains then you can choose ether one.

I have the Bachmann DCC system and analog is button 10.  I tried it with Several analog locos and it does not work.  but I would not want to have to worry about the motor overheating anyway.

Bachmann says that its DCC locos are 100% compatible with DC layouts, though I have not tried it myself.  What does not work is DC locos on DCC layouts.

E-Z track of course has the roadbed built in which I have always though was for beginners or for people who just don't want to spend hours making there own bed. There shouldn't be a difference in the way the trains perform. As for the problem you are having there could be many things happening.  first check   to see that the rails are pushed together all the way. no gaps or sudden changes in grade.  EVERYTHING must be perfectly level. the problem could also be with the train. larger locos will not handle an 18" radius turn like the ones in regular switches. I have always used atlas track. they have just about anything you would need.

Thanks for the help. I think I will use some of these older paint schemes, though I only see a couple from Bachmann. looks like I have a lot of work to do
