Title: Bachmann power pack vs LGB power pack
Post by: dongreenlaw on January 11, 2008, 02:32:34 PM
I have an existing LGB train layout, but want to include a Bachmann WP&YR locomotive and cars.  Is the LGB power pack compatible with the power required to run the Bachmann unit?  Or do I have to purchase a Bachmann power pack - and would it be compatible with my LGB locos?  Thanks for any help.

It will work just fine. The only problems I have heard of with large scale power packs is some Aristo power supplies put out PWM (pulse width modulation) which can be incompatible with some Bachmann and LGB circuitry. Most of the Aristo units can be set to linear power mode and they will work fine with most everything.

I don't understand your technical terms but I have the Bachman 4-6-0 runinning on LGB power.

Dear Don,
As I've said here many times, I have an LGB Jumbo with which I run all my LS trains.
It's a great power supply.
Have fun!
