Title: Shay Versions
Post by: cvl on November 14, 2010, 01:52:35 PM
I have 2 of the 36 (38) ton 2 truck shays and they are different from each other. One has the 6 screw trucks and the other only has 4 screws. Both seem to have sound onboard but I have no idea who's. One of the loco's has the rear headlight mounted on the cab roof while the other is on one side of the fuel bunker. What I would like to know is how many versions of this loco did Bachmann make and at what times.

The only Bachmann On30 Shay made has been the 14 ton model, which does not match your descriptions. Are you referring to the Bachmann Large Scale Shays? If so a post on that board might get a response.

Hi there,
it appears to me, that you are referring to the HO scale model which is scale 1:86 Standard Gauge. On30 is 1:43,5 to 1:49 Narrow Gauge.

The HO models do have different truck construction details according to their prototypes.

Kind regards, Tom
