You might try the above link.  I believe non members can read but not post.

Reg Barron

Thank you for the post.

Strangely enough, the image link worked but the forum link did not.

I'm a big fan of the railroad-line.com forum.

I have attempted to subscribe/become a member at both railroad-line.com and freerails.com for over a year with no success.  An administrator named "Herb" at freerails shared with me that "Sorry, we do not accept new registrations"  verbatim.

Sorry to vent.  Just find it weird that the RR forums I want to join, do not seem to want to grow.

And reading between the lines, if anyone here is on the inside of either of these forums and can assist (off line of course), it is sure appreciated.

Hello Anubis,

You hit the nail right on the head.

I already own several packs of code 83 flex track from Micro.Engineering that has the "somewhat" random, wide spaced ties.

It goes without stating that there is a vast wealth of nickel.silver code 83 HO scale track out there, that should connect up to the existing On30 flex track I already own.

I am a recent convert, coming from HOn3, so I appreciate all the other post I see here on this forum.

Thanks again

Thanks Len,

that was actually one of the places I had stumbled across.

I guess to more focus my question, is anyone else doing this, removing the ties from HO scale track and adding On30 ties?

If you are, specifically, what are you using?

Thank you,

thanks for the reply.

On one hand, electrically, I realize that a keep alive/current keeper is just a capacitor.  OTOH, I'm new to DCC, and as my plans were to to go with Soundtraxx deciders, I didn't know if I should try to stay with the Soundtraxx brand keep alive for support questions, or if just anything is OK.

On30 Ties

Hope that this isn't too far off topic.

I'm not yet a a point where I am ready to lay my own track.

As of recently, I have probably read half-a-dozen great On30 articles on the Internet, where the layout owner has taken HO scale track, pulled or cut out the HO ties, placed the widely spaced offset On30 ties underneath, and their track looks great!!!!

The only thing missing from all these articles, is no one ever list what ties they used or where they were purchased.

If this is something you are doing on your layout, or know of someone else who is, please share your On30 tie information.

Thanks for looking,

Hello Regbarron,

Thank you for the post.  I currently have (2) Bachmann/Spectrum Shay's and a Climax I want to apply both a Soundtraxx 1100 decoder + keep alive to.

Are you stating that the current best strategy is to hunt down a old DSD-B2TSLC board?

Or is there something else out there newer/better?

Thank you,

Is there an estimate of when the new caboose will be available?   And maybe when we should be able to find/purchase it in the market?

I'm not able to bring up the image from "Yardmaster"s post.   It just brings up a dark grey screen with a white line thru it.

I received mine in the mail today also.

I have only gone thru it once (quickly), but it looks to be another great annual with lots of good stuff.

No additional insight, just making sure everyone is aware of the other on30 annual thread.

Thanks,

I bought a Forney a few years ago and it didn't agree with my layout.
What i tried it refused to comply.
So i took the easy way out in the end and cut off the back-end and made it into a separate tender.
Problem solved.

Ton

That sounds pretty slick too!

Can you share a couple of pics please?

thank you for the feedback, and, same here.

I am very much a 1970's / 1980's freelance modeler.

Nothing wrong with counting rivets, but I prefer to operate & build stuff out to my own likes.

To each their own.

Sounds like a neat idea.

Are you proposing installing a different wheel set?  If so, do you have one in mind?

Or, are you planning to remove the existing wheels and turn down the flanges on your lathe?

Something else?

I ordered mine about a week ago. I was told it would be sent in April.

Jerry

Thank you Jerry.

I had no idea when it would be officially released.

Just a follow up on this thread.

I just looked over the announcement page here:

https://shop.whiteriverproductions.com/products/on17

If there is an estimated ship date, I am overlooking it.

Wondering if anyone has the estimated ship date for this?

Thank you,

Hello Ton,

Thank you for the Backwoods Miniatures URL.

I see that they are located in the UK, and none of my local hobby shops carry any of their stuff.

Have you had any problems getting stuff shipped from the UK to the US?
