Thank you both for the comments.

I will give them a call once the holidays wind down and everyone has returned to work.

current status on Bachmann On30 Climax gear repairs?

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a new-in-box Bachmann On30 Climax at a train show from an out of town vendor I will probably never see again.  Paid cash.

I just had a chance to give my new Climax a try a couple of days ago, and, straight out of the box, I'm having gear issues.

When applying (DC) power, the lights light up, the valve gears turn, and there is a (small) observable attempt for the wheels to turn, but they don't really do anything.

Wondering out loud, on the Bachmann forum,  are there any repair options available thru Bachmann?   Should I focus my efforts at replacement NWSL gears?  Something else?

This is my first Bachmann Climax.  Aside from the mechanical issues, its a great looking model.

Comments appreciated.

Neat video.

Is standard gauge the same in India as the US?

Do you know how wide the narrow gauge is?  Referencing about 1:30 into the video.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the URL.

It sounds like that Lee may have been our Bachmann On30 champion.

I also sent an email to NorthWest Short Line (They make replacement gears for Bachmann products as well) and they said that steel gears for the Railtruck are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2017. *fingers crossed*

Thank you for this info.

I found (and purchased) a Railtruck on Amazon about a month ago, so I am glad that these will be available soon.   I'm certain, whether sooner or later, that I will need a set for myself.

same here.

Just in case anyone from Bachmann is watching, I would definitely be in for a set or two if they became available again.

There is another/similar thread discussing that Bachmann's inventory is long sold out, but there are plenty of freight/pass/etc cars available on dealers shelves.  That may be true on the east or west coast or somewhere  else, but they are long dried up here on the south coast.

I did pick up a set of logging cars on my favorite hobby shop's consignment shelf last weekend.  Price wise, they were no bargain, but I was glad to find and purchase them.

I wish that there was some down here on the south coast.

We just never see it.
