Title: Are EZ track turnouts DCC friendly?
Post by: Gamecocks on March 06, 2023, 03:35:32 PM
Hello, I'm working on an N scale layout and am in the process of switching to DCC over analog, got a few EZ track turnouts and was wondering what steps if any I would need to take to make these DCC friendly? I'm going to get the DCC equipped turnouts for the ones on the mainline I'd like to operate with the controller but the vast majority of them will remain analog and connected to a switch array. Any hints or tips for me?

Much appreciated

Jack

Hi Jack,

We designed the 44949 DCC Control Box with Turnout Decoder (https://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_366_368&products_id=7848) to make it easy to convert your analog turnouts to DCC. Just plug the switch in to the control box to replace the analog controller and assign a decoder address with your DCC system.

The 44949 Control Box is currently out of stock at Bachmann, but you can look for it at your local hobby shop or online. We do also have the 44950 Trackside Turnout Decoder (https://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=879_604_782_784&products_id=7211), which uses the same tech, but inside an HO scale trackside shack.

Here's our how-to video showing how they work:
