HO / Applying Frog Snot to HO 4-4-0 drive wheels
October 21, 2020, 09:16:25 AM
I have a Bachmann NCRR 4-4-0,  wheels spinning on up grade. It was suggested to apply Frog Snot to drive wheels.
It said "to put the loco in a cradle, apply power to the pickup wheels & apply the snot to the drive wheels". Which wheels are the pickup wheels & which are the drive wheels ?  I have been unable to locate a diagram of the loco.

HO / Practical grade for a 4-4-0

Building 1st layout. Have a straight run of 3.5" in 7', my 4-4-0 loco has trouble pulling more than 7 cars up the incline. I realize this is a 4% grade, should I rework the layout or are their other alternatives ?

I apologize for discussing a manufacturer other than Bachmann, I knew better, just forgot.

HO / Throttles for a newbie.
August 20, 2020, 02:35:24 PM
Just starting my first HO layout which is 10' x 8'  @ 75 feet of track. Looking at tethered throttles. I like the Digitrax 602 which is much improved over the 400 & 500's. But, it appears it comes with more accessories ( power supply, etc.) & a $150 jump in price then what I need for a two train layout.
Any help for a newbie will be appreciated.

HO / Attaching roadbed & track.
August 12, 2020, 07:23:33 PM
Just starting my HO layout. Have glued 1" foam insulation board to plywood. What is the best method / product to attach cork roadbed to the foam board, and then the flex track to the cork ?

New to model railroading & the forum. 2 questions: I am planning an 10 x 6. "L" layout with 18" & 22" radius curves. It was recommended that I use 4 axle (diesel) locomotives. #! I assume that means 2 trucks, 2 axles each, 4 axles total; am I correct on this.
#2: planning on DCC with sound on the locomotive. Do all DCC decoders with sound have ALL LOCO sounds, bells, Diesel engine sounds, & air brake sounds ?
