HO / How to wire EZ Track Switch to DCS AIU
December 24, 2011, 05:47:37 PM
Hi - I am trying to automate a Bachmann EZ Track switch using an MTH DCS Commnader, TIU, and the AIU using the AIU to manage my switches  The EZ track switch has a three wire coming off the track with a plug connector.  I cut off the connector and soldered the three wires onto another set to extend and denote.  I have the middle wire which I thought was common wired as yellow, the right and left as red and green.  I wired the AIU switch with Yellow as the ground and  red as input 1 and green input 2.  I then used the DCS Commander, selected the switch and then using the soft keys attempted to initiate the switch,  Nothing happens - I've switched the wires around to oher configurations.  But still no success.  Can you tell me how ro wire the switch so I can invoke from the Commander ?
Thanks - Doug Palmeri

I got the EZ Track Set with 4 switching tracks, 4 black switches, and 4 sets of green wires.  I can't figure out how they are to be wired to work.  I have the EZ Command controller and the Analog Bachmann controller that came with my ON30 Christmas set.   Surprised that there are no instructions in the box--only on how to hook up EZ track.

Looking at the switch itself there is a green wire with a female socket which I assume goes into one of the physical switches which have two - two male ends and one three male end.  I am assuming that one of my four green wires that has a female end that accepts a three prong male connects to the physical switch.  If this is correct I now have the track wire connected to one two prong male on the physical switch and the female end of the green wire (unattached) now attached to the physical switch.  That leaves me with one two end male connector on the physical switch unattached to anything (does that connect to the opposite switch track so you open or close the pair of switch tracks with one physical switch ?) and the male end of the green wire unconnected to anything (I've looked at the controller and don't see where it would connect). Can someone explain to me in very simple explicit (kind of like connect the two prong male end to the two prong female ----) so I can set this up correctly.  Thanks

On30 / Converting Analog Set to Digital
December 31, 2009, 09:32:48 AM
I am interested in expanding my Bachmann train set from analog to digital.  I purchased the Santa Claus Express train set and am now interested in expanding by purchasing the following:

(1) the E-Z Command DCC
(2) a DCC locomotive and a series of train cars.

The questions I have are:

(1)  Do I need to purchase another power supply to go with the E-Z Command (maybe the 5 ampo power module)
(2)  Can I upgrade the Santa Express locomotive to DCC ?  If so which of the E-Z Command decoders would I get  or is this something I should have the Service Department do (assuming the Bachmann Service Department will do upgrades)

Any advice anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug
