Title: Bachmann Running on Trix Track
Post by: cliff24g on December 20, 2018, 02:28:24 AM
Will an HO Bachmann passenger car suggested to run on a 22 degree radius be able to run on a 20 1/4 degree curve?

Do you mean 22 inch radius and 20-1/4 inch radius?

If so, the answer is maybe. The "American Standard" sectional track jumps from 18" radius to 22" radius, there's nothing inbetween. So the only way to find out for sure is to try it.

I use Trix C-Track for some display layouts, and find some '22" radius minimum required' equipment will negotiate the R-3 (515mm/20.28") curves, some will not. The overhang can be pretty bad though, so watch the clearances if it does work.

That said, '18" radius minimum required' equipment looks a lot better on the R-3 curves than actual 18" radius curves. And they don't take a whole lot more space. Especially using the R-3 curved turnouts. Just make sure to use the removable roadbed connection pieces so everything lines up and connects.
