I GOT MY SET THE OTHER DAY. I DONT WANT TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY ON UP GRADING THE TRACK THAT CAME WITH IT. MAYBE LATER. QUESTION IS: DOES BACHMANN MAKE ANY SHORT PIECES OF TRACK. I NEED SOME 6" STRAIGHT OR EVEN 3-1/2" STRAIGHT. SAME FOR THE CURVED.
Nope.
If you are going to use Bachmann's track, you will have to adjust your plan to accomadate their full sections. There are lots of track plans that use full sections of track. Bachmann track is not as easy to modify as some others, due to the way the connectors are made.
Half straights come with the 90 degree crossing.

You could cut your own with at fine tooth hacksaw.
If you wanted to have ends that still worked with the plastic section clips, you would have to cut out the middle and glue or cement the end pieces together.
I don't know the type of plastic the ties are, or what glue or cement would work on them.
I haven't tried soldering the rails or soldering wires to them.
Has anyone else?
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
They can be soldered but will corrode that much faster.

I wonder if spray "flux remover" would help, as some flux is corrosive.
A wire brush with soap and water works well .
