Title: New N scale 2-8-0 DCC ready models.
Post by: Tenwheeler01 on June 12, 2023, 11:15:50 AM
I have a question about the latest N scale 2-8-0 DCC ready releases.  It says "This Bachmann 2-8-0 Consolidation arrives DCC-ready with a socket built-in for the addition of the DCC decoder of your choice."
But does not list the socket type.

Do you know what sock type is being used?

Thank you.

Hi Tenwheeler01,

The DCC Ready 2-8-0 has a 9 pin plug.

Just to clarify, It is the standard 9 pin that DigiTrax, TMC, and Soundtrax uses for there "HO" labeled sized decoders?

Thank you.

Yes, it should be a standard 9 pin plug. Just make sure if you are using an "HO" labeled decoder that it will fit inside the tender.

I am thinking about buying one of the N scale 2-8-0s with the "socket" to add a decoder.

What is that "socket" in term of pin number and arrangement?  Is there a part specification that is recognized across the industry, for compatibility purposes?

What decoders come with matching plugs, so that it is really "plug-and-play"?  I am particularly interested in ESU sound decoders, but also maybe TCS sound decoders.  Remember, I am asking about N scale.
