HO / leds on a your panel
October 27, 2007, 05:50:32 AM
I was wandering how you would wire red and green leds on a panel to show how a switch is turned under a mountain; I know switches under a mountain is a no, no, but had no choice without a lot of modification. I have atlas and peco under the table switches. What type of Leds do you use; how do you wire them; and do you have to use resisters; and what ohm resister would you use? A lot of questions but I thought I would as the experts, especially Jim Banner. Hope to get some good ideas. Thanks for your input. Larry

HO / Noise in Bachman GP's
October 10, 2007, 10:15:40 PM
I asked a question about the lights on the Bachman Geeps and that question was answered. I have one more question. On the Bachman Geeps at slow speeds they make a lot of noise. After you speed them up they become more silent. I like to run my trains slow and was wandering if their are any upgrades or something else I could do to make them run silent at slow speeds. As always thanks for your in put. Larry

HO / bachman DCC GP's
September 24, 2007, 10:48:08 PM
Mr Bachman
I have about eight Bachman diesel's but the lights are not very bright on any of them compared to the Proto 2000 Diesel and other diesels that I have. What is the problem and how do I solve it. I checked them by pushing the number 1 on the MRC Prodigy Advance Squired controller but it just dims the lights even more. As always you all are a great help.

HO / Changing trucks and couplers
September 19, 2007, 04:27:27 PM
We just had a train show in Dothan, AL and my oldest son bought me 35 cars. Everything I have up to now has the coupler attached to the car itself. All these cars had the coupler attached to the truck. Most of the cars had horn-hooked couplers so I know they have to be changed to Bachman EZ Mate couplers or some other brand. What are your recomendations for the best possible running? If I put the couplers on the cars will I have to shim every coupler. As always I sure do appreciate ya'll's input. Larry

I am building a log pond for a saw mill. I was wandering if you glue the logs to the bottom before you pour the water or wait til the water begins to set up and then you put in your logs? Thanks for the help.

HO / What Toggle type to use
August 15, 2007, 11:20:13 PM
On my layout I have some places were I need to use a toggle switch to operate my atlas and peco switches. What kind do you use and how do you hook them up. I know you have to use a momentary type toggle. I am just not sure which wire goes to which post. How do you get the power to a toggle switch. To atlas switch boxes it is easy, but how do you do the same thing to a toggle switch. I know there are professonals out there that can help. Thanks a lot for your help. Larry

Just a simple question. Can you use a double train portal for an automobile and truck portal or does it need to be modified to look real?

HO / detection device
July 25, 2007, 07:06:36 AM
Is there any kind of electronic detecting device that you can put under the track to keep two trains from colliding into each other at a 90 degree crossing where one train will stop and let the other train go through automatically? Thanks

HO / three truck shay
June 04, 2007, 08:42:33 AM
I just bought a Bachman 3 truck shay and am having problems with it running smooth. It slows down than speeds up and keeps doing this no matter how long I run it. It is not the track because everything else runs fine, just the Shay speeds up and then slows down all around the layout. Any help from the experts would be appreciated. Thanks. Larry

HO / Wye's
May 16, 2007, 10:38:26 AM
I have been reading Jim Banner's comments for some time and appreciate his knowledge in our wonderful hobby. One time I asked him a question and got a good answer but was unable to get him the info he needed. I would like to send him a drawing of my layout wiring problem by snail mail so he could show me how to correctly wire two wye's for dcc. If he would be interested would he please email me at gl.summers@hotmail.com. Thanks Jim if you read this. Larry
