Just got this addition to my RS3 Fleet. A good friend of mine had this Lionel RS4/3 that had a lot of issues and he gave it to me so I gutted it out and make a really nice dummy unit.

Looks like a nice engine, maybe you could have gutted just the electronics and made it a one direction engine by putting in a bridge rectifier as most model train motors are DC can motors. It's your decision though.

Well the motor shaft was broken off and the gears on the one truck drive were gone and it would have to much to redo and anyway i just wanted a dummy unit so it worked out perfect for me. :)
Wyatt,
Seems that you did the best you could with the older engine, as I didn't know what might be wrong with it. But with gears or motor shaft broken then the best thing was to make it a dummy unit.

Wyatt,
They look great together.
A lot of railroads would run those nose to nose, with both cabs facing each other.
I never saw the SAL when they were running Alcos but I did see the L&N do that.
You might also be able to wire some light into the dummy.
Have fun.
Looks really good on the layout
