Title: bachmann smoke fluid
Post by: jettrainfan on July 03, 2010, 02:23:43 PM
I got the replacement 0-6-0 from bachmann services Friday. I spent 2 hours running it and I was pleased. Haveing about 8\10 of the smoke fluid left from the old engine, I figured run it and see if it works. It did but not like expected. It smoked but after 10 minutes it stopped. I turned it over to see what was in and nothing came out. So I reloaded it with 3 drops and it smoked fine. 10 minutes later, out. The fluid is a year and a half old so I figured it expired or somthing. Has anyone else had this problem?

JTF,

Sounds like it's working fine.  I few drops of smoke oil won't last long.

I'd be more interested in how to safely remove the smoke unit from the 0-6-0,  It's a nice little loco, with lots of potential for details.  Could be a nice unit for a small layout or branchline.  Just an opinion, but it would be better if the 0-6-0 didn't smoke (messy, smelly & not all that realistic).

Regards,

Jonathan

Ok, thanks. Its been a year and a half so my mind was pretty blank about the smoke. I could've swore it lasted longer... oh well.

The faster you run it the quicker the smoke will run out. Try 4-5 drops. Just don't over fill it or it will run only makeing a mess on the track.

with the older unit i had it go 3/4 average on the throttle, the new one is averaged at 1/2. But i'll try the 4-5 drops. I was using my DCC controller to run some of my DCC engines while i moved so cars around the yard to a siding. Thanks for the info! i'll try it out today.
