For reasons unknown the  excellent weathering site, Modeltrainsweathered.com has closed down. Unfortunately all the great information,weathering tips and photos that were on the site are now almost impossible to access. This is a great loss to the model rr community.

MRC are not a decoder I'd order in.nor is it my primary choice...I'd rather use a Tsunami or Soundtraxx

The MRC drop-in is ok...for an MRC drop-in....but if one of the others, Soundtraxx for example, makes one that fits then I would go for that on my next RS-3

...first I got an new MRC plug-and-play sound chip for an RS-3

Just soldered in 2 wires in place of the 2 inductors I removed...Loco is now mobile again
Thanks to forums like this one for provideing the knowledge base to allow us to correct our mistakes.

LOL...I cut the inductors out of my 0-6-0 ST a few weeks ago, mistaking them for caps.....guess who's loco stopped working

Rich...just out of curiosity what are the inductors for or what do they do???

I also have 2 of the original Bachmann Spectrum 0-6-0 Saddletank DC locos and they are great little locos...straight out of the box. I just got 2 of the DCC ones today...complete junk
They stop, start,stop,start... run rough, the wheels are out of quarter, the rods on one are bent...you would never know they are the same locos from the same manufacturer..... they run like some 1960s junk. Terrible quality control!
