where can one go to find a chart or guide that will show the benefits of CV settings? For example what is the best starting voltage? whet is the best top voltage. I would like to experiment with different settings but i am afraid i will screw up the DCC board.

General Discussion / CV What???
June 17, 2013, 03:51:11 PM
ok all of you seasoned train people out there. Please explain to me how to understand CV values. ( for example CV8 =8)  that is like saying the Molecular structure of a split atom is to the power of 10... SOOOooo Confused. I have a MRC advanced controller and have been told that I can do great things with it. Maybe I need to fine someone in my area to show this simple guy how to figure this out.

If I add sound to my G30 (ho scale). Do I add the new board along with the other board or does the new sound board replace the other board?  ???

I am a little new to the DCC world and wonder if someone can tell me why my train speeds up when going down hill? I have tried to set the CV code but then the train will lurch going down hill. I have a 2% slope and have been pulling 5 coal cars.  Does anyone have any thoughts?

General Discussion / Think my DCC board is bad
October 07, 2012, 04:38:23 PM
I purchased a Bachmann GP-35 from a friens that said it was new. It was still in the box and looked new. After I progrram on the program track and place the engine on the mail track i get a message on my cab that syas "saved data". Is their a way to do a factory reset on the engine or should i just buy a new DCC decoder?
By the way I very much apreachiate all the help from the experianced Train entheusiest here on the Bachmann site.

General Discussion / New engine is sluggish
October 03, 2012, 06:27:15 PM
I have just bought a Bachmann G30 diesel. (HO scale) I programed it just as I have my other engines but this new (unused) engine seems to be very sluggish. It starts off very slowly ( sits and hums) then after a few seconds will get up to speed. When it climbs my ramp on my layout (2%) it struggles to get up the incline. My other engines will go up the incline with no issues. My question is, Did I set up the engine incorrectly? Or is there an issue with the Engine?

I am new to the DCC world and have just purchased a Bachmann GP Union Pacific 743 60713 that came DCC equipped. I am wondering if I can change out the DCC chip and add one that has sound?
