HO / Tuning up a new 4-8-4 Santa Fe...
May 30, 2009, 08:44:03 PM
Hi All,

I recently purchased a new DCC-equipped Bachmann 4-8-4 Santa Fe. While I'm quite happy with the appearance of this loco, she wobbles heading down the track.

This doesn't seem like a problem that bad enough to send to Bachmann service, seems like she just needs a tune up job, perhaps just a re-quartering of the drivers.

My Question is: what tools should I obtain for this kind of work? What do I use for detaching the side-rods, itc. I'm already getting a NWSL quartering jig and have some small screw drivers, am I missing anything?

Regards,

HO / Re: Question for The Bach Man - Spectrum GP30

You shouldn't have any issues with a warranty exchange of these units. If you want to salvage them, you could pull your DCC decoders before sending them in.

They will probably be replaced with Bachmann's new RTR DCC GP30s which came out recently.

HO / Minimum Radius for the new 2-10-4's?
March 05, 2009, 06:44:15 AM
Hi All,

I've been thinking about getting one (or two) of the new DCC Santa Fe 2-10-4's.

What is their minimum operating radius? Do they use blind drivers like IHC's 2-10-2's? Almost as importantly, what do folks think of them? I would assume they run as well as any other recent Bachmann but I have yet to see an actual review online or in print, of these locomotives.

Any info is welcome. Thanks!
