Do a Bachmann Board search on "early  cutoff", there might be some useful info in the 2 threads.

Number #6 turnouts work well with 22" radius, nice and gradual.

If you use an 18"R turnout, your layout minimum radius drops down to 18"R.

The Number 5 turnout is mentioned in the threads as working well with 22"R curves.
