HO / Re: The new retooled American 4-4-0
February 04, 2016, 07:44:38 PM
Except for the improvement of the drive and the wheels, Bachmann missed a good opportunity to have a more accurate model of the UP 119.  The cab is much too light, what looks to be a Russian Iron boiler jacket should be gloss black, and the tender load should be coal.

Jupiter- a repaint of the jacket from silver to black would have been great and the tender trucks should be blue.  The tender trucks for both could have been improved as well.

What great news that Bachmann is updating this model.  Please also give some consideration to updating the livery on the UP 119 and CP 60.  Here's some sites:

HO / Kibri American Structures???
March 19, 2013, 07:17:47 PM
While operating at a friend's layout I saw a beautiful plastic two story house with wrap around porch that would be perfect for my layout.  Looked underneath and its a Kibri building.  I can't find a list of a North American line of Kibri- anyone have any information?  Believe the line to be discontinued- anyone pick it up?

Thanks!

HO / Sound S-2 Problem and Question
February 09, 2013, 11:09:26 AM
Picked up one these last weekend at a very good price and I am enjoying it a great deal.  However, I have noticed that after running it and then stopping the prime mover sound quits- but a horn or bell would work just fine.  Slight increase of the throttle and the suck-squeeze-bang-blow of the prime mover comes right back.  Any suggestions?

Also, are there other horn sounds or just the very appropriate BLAT horn?

Thanks!

Hello Bachmann- I encourage you to consider auto train and NYSW for the dome cars, there's a lot of photos out there.

Thanks!

HO / Re: Time for a Plastic CPR Royal Hudson

Ok, I have re-read again the August 1969 TRAINS magazine on these wonderful locos.  There are three classes of streamlined Hudsons, the H-1 c-d-e.  They are all extremely similar in dimensions and wheel diameter; it looks exact actually.  The last five, the E class, were built with oil tenders.  Some of the C and D were were converted to oil when they were transferred to the western provinces.  Looks as if the only other changes were the application or not of the crowns on the running board and changes to cowling around the stack- most noticeable the numberboard placements.

Again, it seems as if a nice easy and popular model.

HO / Time for a Plastic CPR Royal Hudson

I have been very satisfied with Bachman steam, and I have noticed that be it either a NKP/C&O/PM 2-8-4, a Southern 2-8-0, or a SP 4-8-4, Bachman has produced models of engines that survive and even have operated in preservation.  In encourage Bachman to consider a CP Royal Hudson in plastic.  Potential models include those representing them in original service, royal service scheme, preserved engines, BC scheme, and even the Southern scheme a la 2839.  Consideration for the tender could include either a coal or oil bunker as has been done with the 4-6-0s.

Just my thoughts- Happy New Year!
