Large / Re: Spectrum 4-4-0 actual true minimum radius

It will probably run on 3 foot radius. The inside wheel may raise a bit.

The truck mount system has two slotted areas that can be lengthened to allow more side travel.

Ours runs on the Bachmann Big Hauler two foot radius track after the modification if I keep the sliding areas lubricated to move freely.

We have one we bought used at a train show and has only seen duty under our Christmas tree.

Why do you want that particular road name?  Is that the line you are trying to simulate?

Hunt, thank you much. Good info. The rest of his site looks informative as well.

The 4 beats per revolution bars are already on the 4-4-0. I suspect they are on all the newer locomotives. It will be interesting to see how some of the other modifications work.

Thanks again, Bob

Large / Big Hauler sound cards
December 21, 2012, 04:33:58 PM
We have a radio control and an older powered Big Hauler. Is the sound quality the same or do the newer ones sound better?

I have install the remote card in our 4-4-0 while deciding what power and sound system we are going to use. It works but I am wondering if the newer one would sound better.

Large / 4-4-0 User's Manual & squeal
November 29, 2010, 04:10:38 AM
We perchased a used G 4-4-0 a year ago at a train show. Is there a way we can get an owner/user's Manual?

We haven't ran it for a while. It is fine with the loco and tender. If you add a couple of cars, the loco develops a high pitched intermittent squeal.

Is that typical? Where should we lubricate to stop it?

Thanks BnB
