Thomas & Friends / Re: Dear Bachmann
January 06, 2009, 10:55:47 AM
It is true that the Thomas stuff is marketed towards kids, but like Sparks sad, Hornby and Lionel do the same. They make boxes for their stock. It works out well. Even when I was in London during the summer, I went to ModelZone and bought a Hornby Stepney. It came in a box, and I kept the box as a little souviner.

In short, boxes make more sense than having a hard to open plastic that can cut a kid who is trying to open it.

well I recently picked up Emily, and as I have midterms, I have yet to run her. I still need her coaches, and also a permanent layout. Looking forward to collecting Edward as next year progresses.

his base is quite a good, durable model. I picked it up while in London, and it works well. "Montague" as I call him can pull express coaches, Annie & Clarabel and the Hornby freight that I got all at the same time.

Same here. First was the simple Thomas set, then the Gordon set, and when I was in London this past summer, I picked up Stepney, a good amount of HORNBY frieght cars and a 57xx Pannier tank engine from Bachmann's branchline models. Stepney and the 57xx are extremely good shunters and very durable.

I wonder if bachmann can make silly billy's prototype & then make the actual silly billy. ???

Bachmann will not use Branchline locomotives in the Thomas range.
Thomas,Percy & toby are branch line engines & don't you forget it.

Sweet Lord...

BACHMANN BRANCHLINE is BACHMANN's UK range. The locomotives start off at about $70, so I can hardly see them used.

Honestly!

Jack calm down. I understand where he is coming from, but try to be a bit more paitient

meh, those are the old generic style coaches used in the firs few seasons. Those would be good, but they are almost like a repaint of Annie and Clarabel. I actually wouldn't mind just taking the red coaches and sharing them between Edward, Henry and James. Edward has his branchline so as he's not really an "express engine" per say, it's not that important to me whether or not he has special coaches to call his own.

personally, all I'd want is Stepney. And anyways, I'm going to London this summer, so he won't be too hard to find.

Oh, I see, well I'm sorry if I'm just starting to watch the show again.

Alex

See, thats the problem that I have with you younger generation of Thomas fans. You all don't know the real stories, only what you see on tv. Take my word for it, the real stories are much more interesting that the tv show.

Ahhh... Nice work. That is a Bachmann Gordon with a Hornby James tender I presume?

so does that mean that I can't just buy realistic smokebox doors for them? If not, I can make them anyways

K, my question is, can the faces and eye mechanisms for the Bachmann engines be taken out and replaced with a realistic smokebox door?

This thread isn't pointless, i am stating the facts here that this section of the bachmann forum has too mnay threads that are complete nonsence!

I used to run my own forum, but i shut it down because of certain members from SiF, now i am on the Model Trains Forum, a place where modellers like me can share ideas and show off our projects and such!
I have lead the first MTF members meet, so i know what i am talking about!

Dan, you can't genuinely believe that SiF ruined your forum. You know there were some certain members that ruined it. Point is, grow up, move on and stop blaming SiF for your forum's problems.

I agree with Guilford Guy. If you want to discuss Thomas on a higher maturity level, I suggest you go here.
http://sodor.proboards77.com/index.cgi Not only do they have discussions on all things Thomas related, but also other things. They have been credited by Christopher Awdry (The son of the Late Rev. Wilbert Awdry) and also by Britt Allcroft (the lady who was responsible for bringing Thomas into the tv) I've been a member for quite a while now and we've had some quite grand things happen there. This year we celebrated our fifth anniversary and greater things will come soon.
